3 - INSTALLATION
3.2 - Equipment & Tools
The following equipment and tools are required in
order to install the M32 flywheel:
• Auger with a diameter between 78” (~200cm) and
84” (~215cm) that is capable of boring a hole
approximately 70” (~178cm) deep.
• Crane or forklift rated to a minimum of 6 tons
(5,500kg) at required reach, in accordance with
local requirements:
- M32 flywheel: Approximately 10,500lbs
(~4,783kg).
- Capsule: Approximately 1,200lbs (~550kg).
- Capsule Lid: Approximately 400lbs (~200kg).
• Lifting straps with shackles (three required).
• One or more tagline(s) and/or magnetic
manipulator bars for aligning and positioning the
M32 flywheel and Capsule during installation.
• Shovels and/or other handheld earthmoving tools,
as appropriate for the installation site.
• Socket torque wrench rated to at least 150 foot-
pounds (210Nm).
• 7’ (~213cm) extension, with 1/4”-20 threaded end.
• 7’ (~213cm) socket extension.
• Handheld Load Cell Reader (AK 700-0015-00).
• Latex-free gloves.
• Denatured alcohol.
• Lint-free wipes.
• 1 1/8” magnetized socket.
• 1 1/2” open-end wrench.
• 1 1/2” socket.
• 3/8” hex wrench.
• #1 Phillips screwdriver.
• #2 Phillips screwdriver.
• Vacuum vent tool.
• 1/8” hex driver.
