Chapter 4 – How to operate Digital modes

The Power Amplifier MOSFET transistors have characteristics that far exceed the needs of normal Transceiver
operation. They are quite rugged. However, other internal components such as the Filters, Integrated Circuits,
and some small SMT parts must also be considered when modes with high duty cycles are in use. There are
three voltage rails all of which have thermal shutdown protection built in.
Digital modes such as PSK31, RTTY [AFSK), WSPR, JT65A work very well with PowerSDR control software and
Apache Transceivers.
Digital operation of a Software Defined Radio may require additional Utilities and supporting software in order to
complete the complex software [virtual) interconnections for digital operation. Fldigi will be used as an example.
