Connecting to a length of cable
When using the NTC TDR on a single length of cable, in order to display proper
results, it is recommended to use a two-way splitter with the outputs connected to the
transmit and receive ports of the TDR, and with a 20dB pad installed between the
splitter input and the length of cable as shown in the diagram below.
The Holland GHS-2PRO splitter was selected for this applications because of its
outstanding >42 dB return path port to port isolation performance. Similar
replacement splitters should be used to ensure proper TDR measurements.
