Questions and Answers

Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive guide for the Ariston oven, detailing its functions, usage, and maintenance procedures.

Product Description

The Ariston oven is a modern cooking appliance designed for versatile culinary tasks. It features a control panel with a selection knob, a thermostat knob, and various buttons for setting cooking parameters. The oven cavity is equipped with multiple shelf levels, a light, and specific elements for different cooking functions.

Control Panel Description

The control panel includes:

  • Selection Knob (1): Used to select various cooking functions. Turning this knob lights up the display and emits an audible signal.
  • Light (2): An internal light that illuminates the oven cavity.
  • Setting the Time (3): Buttons for setting the hour and minutes, and confirming the selection.
  • Display (4): Shows the selected function, time, temperature, and other cooking parameters.
  • Setting the Temperature (5): The thermostat knob for adjusting the cooking temperature.
  • Adjustment Buttons (6): Buttons for fine-tuning settings and confirming selections.

Functions

The oven offers a range of cooking functions to suit various needs:

  • Conventional: Ideal for cooking any type of dish on a single shelf.
  • Forced Air: Allows cooking different foods simultaneously on up to three shelves, ensuring no odor transfer.
  • Pizza: Specifically designed for baking various types and sizes of pizza and bread. It's recommended to swap baking tray positions halfway through cooking.
  • Grill: Perfect for grilling steaks, kebabs, sausages, vegetables au gratin, or toasting bread. A dripping pan with 200 ml of water is recommended to collect cooking juices.
  • Turbo Grill: For roasting large joints of meat like legs, roast beef, or chicken. A dripping pan with 200 ml of water is recommended.
  • Rising: Helps sweet or savory dough rise effectively. Activated by turning the thermostat knob to the rising icon.
  • Eco Forced Air: For cooking roasts and stuffed joints on a single shelf, preventing excessive drying with gentle, intermittent air circulation. The oven light remains off during this function but can be switched on manually.
  • Automatic Cleaning - Pyro: Eliminates cooking spatters using a high-temperature cycle (over 400 °C).
  • Steam Functions (Fish, Meat, Bread): These functions provide excellent results by adding steam during cooking cycles. Water should be poured into the oven bottom only when the oven is cold, and the specific function should be selected. Preheating is not required for these functions.

Usage Features

First Time Use

  1. Setting the Time: Upon first switching on, press the time button until the clock icon and hour digits flash. Use the adjustment buttons to set the hour, then confirm. Repeat for minutes.
  2. Set the Power Consumption: The oven is factory-programmed for less than 2.9 kW ("Lo"). To operate at a higher power (greater than 3 kW, "Hi"), turn the selection knob to the power icon, then back to 0. Press and hold the adjustment buttons for five seconds to enter the change menu. Use the adjustment buttons to change the setting, then confirm.
  3. Heat the Oven: Before cooking, heat the empty oven to 250 °C for about one hour to remove manufacturing odors. Remove all protective materials and accessories first. Air the room during and after this process.

Daily Use

  1. Select a Function: Turn the selection knob to the desired function symbol. The display will light up, and an audible signal will sound.
  2. Activate a Function (Manual): Turn the thermostat knob to set the desired temperature. An audible signal will sound, and the display will show the temperature. During cooking, you can change the function or temperature.
    • Rising Function: Turn the thermostat knob to the rising symbol. The function will not start if the oven is set to a different temperature.
    • Steam Functions: Fill the cavity embossing with the suggested quantity of water (only when cold). Place food in the oven, set, and activate the steam function. Open the door carefully at the end to let steam escape slowly. Do not open the door or top up water during steam cooking.
  3. Preheating and Residual Heat: A flashing icon on the display indicates preheating is active. Once the set temperature is reached, the icon becomes fixed, and an audible signal indicates the oven is ready for food. Placing food before preheating is finished may affect results. After cooking, the residual heat icon may remain visible until the compartment cools down.

Programming Cooking

  1. Duration: Select a function, then press and hold the duration button until the icon and "00:00" flash. Use the adjustment buttons to set the cooking time, then confirm. Activate the function by setting the temperature. To cancel, press and hold the duration button until the icon flashes, then reset to "00:00".
  2. End Cooking Time/Delayed Start: After setting a cooking time, press the end time button until the icon and current time flash. Use the adjustment buttons to set the desired end time, then confirm. Activate the function by setting the temperature. The function will pause until it automatically starts to finish cooking by the set end time. To cancel, turn the selection knob to 0.
  3. Setting the Timer: This option acts as a countdown timer without interrupting or programming cooking. Press and hold the timer button until the icon and "00:00" flash. Use the adjustment buttons to set the time, then confirm. An audible signal will sound when the timer finishes. To cancel, press and hold the timer button until the icon flashes, then reset to "00:00".

Automatic Cleaning Function – Pyro

  • Safety: Do not touch the oven during or immediately after the Pyro cycle. Keep children and animals away.
  • Preparation: Remove all accessories, including shelf guides. If installed below a hob, ensure all burners/hotplates are off. For optimal results, remove heavy soiling with a damp sponge beforehand. Avoid activating with limescale residues.
  • Activation: Turn the selection knob and thermostat knob to the pyro icon. The function activates automatically, the door locks, and the light switches off. The display shows remaining time alternating with "Piro".
  • Post-Cycle: The door remains locked until the oven temperature returns to a safe level. Air the room during and after the cycle.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Safety First: Ensure the oven has cooled down and is disconnected from the mains before any cleaning or maintenance. Do not use steam cleaners. Wear protective gloves.
  • Exterior Surfaces: Clean with a damp microfiber cloth and pH-neutral detergent if very dirty. Finish with a dry cloth. Avoid corrosive or abrasive detergents/scourers/wire wool.
  • Interior Surfaces: After each use, let the oven cool and clean it while still warm to remove residues. To dry condensation, let it cool completely and wipe with a cloth or sponge.
  • Limescale Removal (Steam Cooking): Pour 250 ml of white vinegar (or a specific descaling product) into the cavity embossing. Let it work for 30 minutes at room temperature, then clean with warm water and a soft cloth. Recommended every 5-10 steam cooking cycles.
  • Stubborn Dirt: For stubborn dirt, run the automatic cleaning function. Perform limescale cleaning first if residues are present.
  • Glass Cleaning: The door can be easily removed to facilitate cleaning the glass with a suitable liquid detergent.
  • Accessories: Soak accessories in a washing-up liquid solution after use. Use oven gloves if they are hot. Remove food residues with a washing-up brush or sponge.

Removing and Refitting the Door

  1. Open the door fully and lower the catches to the unlock position.
  2. Close the door partially (as much as possible). Hold the door firmly with both hands (not by the handle) and pull it upwards while continuing to close it until it releases from its seating. Place it on a soft surface.
  3. To refit, align the hinge hooks with their seating and secure the upper part.
  4. Lower the door and open it fully. Lower the catches to their original position, ensuring they are completely down. Apply gentle pressure to check correct positioning.
  5. Close the door and check alignment with the control panel. If not aligned, repeat the steps to avoid damage.

Click & Clean - Cleaning the Glasses

  1. Remove the door and rest it on a soft surface with the handle downwards. Simultaneously press the two retaining clips and remove the upper edge of the door by pulling it towards you.
  2. Lift and firmly hold the inner glass with both hands, remove it, and place it on a soft surface for cleaning.
  3. Refit the intermediate pane (marked "1R") before the inside pane. Ensure the "R" mark is in the left-hand corner. Insert the long side of the "R" glass into the support seats, then lower it into position. Repeat for both panes.
  4. Refit the upper edge. A click indicates correct positioning. Ensure the seal is secure before refitting the door.

Replacing the Lamp

  1. Disconnect the oven from the power supply.
  2. Unscrew the light cover, replace the bulb (use 25 W/230 V type G9, T300 °C halogen lamps), and screw the cover back on.
  3. Reconnect the oven to the power supply. Do not handle bulbs with bare hands. Do not use the oven until the light cover has been refitted.
