ASSEMBLY
The Armfield FT74 is delivered ready assembled with the appropriate heat exchanger
already installed. The only assembly operations required are if it is desired to change
the heat exchangers or the holding tubes.
Replacing or Exchanging the Heat Exchanger Assemblies
Refer to drawings on page 25.
The Plate Heat Exchanger module (FT74-30) and Tubular Heat Exchanger module
(FT74-20) are readily interchangeable allowing processing flexibility.
Both modules are supplied fully assembled so that it is a relatively simple exercise to
dismantle and remove one module from the top cover of the base unit and replace it
with the other.
Temperature sensors T1, T2 and T3 must be removed from their housings to be re-
used on the alternative module. First unplug the sensors from the rear of the control
console and remove any cable ties or wiring supports. This will allow the sensors to
be unscrewed from their housings.
Two support brackets for each module are fixed to the frame by fixing screws in four
positions on an identical “footprint”. Before releasing these screws, the following Tri-
clamp connectors must be undone:-
Hot water inlet (51)
Hot water return (52)
Cold water inlet (53)
Cold water return (54)
Product outlet (56)
Product inlet (57)
The clamps and gaskets will be re-used when the alternative module is in place.
When fitting the tubular heat exchanger, the longer flexible hose, (supplied with the
Heat Exchanger) must be used to connect to the feed pump. Similarly, when fitting
the plate heat exchanger, the shorter hose should be used.
Ensure that the holding down screws are secure and that all of the process connections
have been re-made and the clamps firmly tightened by hand. The temperature sensors
must be reassembled into the appropriate housings and plugged into the sockets at the
rear of the console.
Temperature Sensor T1 is located at the exit of the holding tube. (This sensor is used
as the process temperature control.)
Temperature Sensor T2 is located at the heat exchanger inlet from the feed pump.
