OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES.
Note: Measurement of throughput can be carried out easily using a
measuring cylinder and stop watch at the outlet of valve (9).
CONTROL PANEL OPERATION
Mains On/Off
The FT74 will always power up in the standby mode, with power applied to the low
voltage controls and instrumentation, but with the heater and pumps disabled. The
Control Panel and its associated displays are activated whenever power is applied to
the FT74 unit.
To enter the operational mode, the MAINS ON button on the control panel. This
energises a contactor in the electrical tray, switching power to the Feed Pump and Hot
Water Circulation circuits, thus enabling their operation. Note, these circuits have
their own ON/OFF controls; switching on the MAINS will not energise any
operations until the individual ON controls are activated. However, once activated,
pressing the MAINS OFF button will override these circuits and power down the unit.
When the mains is ON, the associated LED indicator is illuminated.
Feed Pump Control
The Feed Pump is only operational when the electrical mains is ON.
Note: The Feed Pump should never be operated when the feed vessel is
empty, as running it dry will cause damage and premature failure.
Always check that there is liquid in the feed vessel before switching
on, and check frequently whilst the pump is running.
To switch on the Feed Pump press the associated ON button on the front panel. The
feed pump will begin to run at the speed associated with the displayed frequency.
The feed pump UP and DOWN buttons control the speed demand. Note, the value
displayed on the front panel is the input to the pump motor drive circuit. This is not
necessarily the speed the motor is actually running at, as there could be a delay
between changing the speed and the motor achieving the correct speed.
