ASEPCO Weirless Radial PTFE Diaphragm Tank-bottom Valves
1. To achieve optimal diaphragm valve sealing per the Maximum Operating Pressure
Rating identified in Table 1, it is recommended that diaphragms are installed in the
“open” position and steamed at 121-130o C for at least 15 minutes followed by 30
minutes in the “closed” position. Alternatively, before installing the diaphragms, they
may be placed in WFI/DI water and boiled (e.g. boiling, pressure cooker) at 100°C for
60 minutes. They may then be installed in the heated condition.
2. During Actuator installation, care must be taken that the static O-ring/elastomer is
properly seated in the groove of the diaphragm shoulder seal.
3. For 2” Diaphragms (PF20-1), using actuator model no- PN20-100 is recommended to
achieve sealing at the Maximum Operating Pressure Rating.
4. Due to the characteristics of PTFE material, the Tri-Clamp at the actuator interface
(Shoulder Seal area) should be inspected and re-tightened as appropriate (e.g., one-
month intervals recommended) to maintain proper sealing. Ideally, the torque
should be checked during inspection. [Note: Re torquing should only be performed
with the valve in the open position.
