Do you have a question about the Assa Abloy SARGENT IN Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SARGENT IN120 / IN220 Exit Device is a sophisticated access control solution designed for various door opening applications, offering both Wi-Fi (IN120) and Power over Ethernet (PoE) (IN220) connectivity options. This device integrates with PE80 Series and 80 Series Exit Devices, including Rim and Mortise types, and is suitable for both new installations and retrofits.

Function Description:

The IN120 / IN220 Exit Device provides electronic authentication for secure access. It supports mobile credentials, transmitting data via Bluetooth Smart or NFC ISO/IEC14443, requiring a compatible mobile device with the latest HID "Mobile Access" application. The device is designed to manage door access, allowing authorized entry while ensuring easy egress through panic hardware. It can be configured for various functions, including 77/78 function x trim x lever designs for Rim and Mortise exit devices, as well as PE8600 Concealed Vertical Rod (CVR) and PE8700 Surface Vertical Rod (SVR) exit devices.

The system integrates with an EAC (Electronic Access Control) software system, which manages the PoE frame harness assembly, PoE data hinge, PoE door harness, and the IN220 PoE Lock. For locks with external Door Position Switches (DPS), the system monitors the door's status.

    • Destructive Attack: Level 1
    • Line Security: Level 1
    • Endurance: Level 4
    • Standby Power: Level 1
  • Wiring Methods: In accordance with National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA70), CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I, Safety Standard for Electrical Installations, local codes, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Fire Rating: Any retrofit or field modification to a fire-rated opening may impact the fire rating. Consultation with a code specialist or local code official is recommended.
  • California Proposition 65: This product may expose users to lead, known to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Power Supply Specifications:

  • IN120 (Wi-Fi version):
    • Battery Power: 6 Alkaline AA Batteries (9V, 300mA). For "Fire Listed" doors, only alkaline batteries must be used. Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
    • Optional Hard Power (UL 294 Listed Power Supply Required): 9-24VDC, 300mA. Do NOT install batteries when using hard power.
  • IN220 (PoE version):
    • Power over Ethernet: UL 294 Listed, PoE Injector or Class 2 power limited power supply (55VDC, 90mA). UL testing conducted with model POE20U-560(G) PoE Injector manufactured by Phihong.
    • IEEE 802.3 (at or af) compliance: Not verified as part of UL 294/B.

Installation Wiring (IN220 PoE):

  • Door Position Switch (DPS): Integrated DPS for monitoring door status. Collar used for metal doors.
  • Cylinder Installation: For devices with cylinders, proper alignment of the tailpiece with the exit chassis hub is crucial. Key retraction of the latchbolt must be verified.
  • LED Signaling:
    • Green flash followed by motor unlock: Normal operation.
    • Green flash followed by 4 beeps and 4 fast purple flashes: Low power.
    • Rapid blue flash (approx. 1 minute): Lock loses power, defaults to programmed fail-safe or fail-secure.
  • Keypad/Card Access: For units with a keypad, pin and card can be added using LCT software. For units without a keypad, cards can be added via LCT software.

Maintenance Features:

  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Precautions: Minimize static build-up by touching unpainted metal surfaces. Keep components in anti-static bags until installation. Avoid touching pins, leads, or solder connections on circuit boards.
  • Connector Care: Apply silicone dielectric compound (grease) to connector pins and contacts to prevent debris entry and ensure proper connection. Do not overfill.
  • Wiring Management: Ensure wire harnesses are not pinched during installation. Route wires through designated channels and holes, avoiding bottom holes in mounting plates.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • If friction or binding occurs with the cylinder, readjust to eliminate issues.
    • If low power is indicated, check input voltage and lock wiring for shorts.
    • If resistance is encountered when securing the controller, detach and determine the cause before re-attaching.
  • Battery Replacement: For IN120 (Wi-Fi), replace alkaline AA batteries with alkaline batteries only to comply with "Fire Listed" doors. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
  • Operational Check: Perform comprehensive checks before closing the door, including verifying inside exit bar retraction, cylinder function, and LED signaling.
