Switch on the voltage. Start the compressor and stop it immediately. Check for correct direction
of rotation while the compressor drive motor is coasting to a stop. Arrow (1) on the gear casing
indicates the correct rotation direction. If the rotation direction is wrong, contact Atlas Copco.
On air-cooled compressors, check also the rotation direction of the fan motor (FN). The cooling
air must be blown through the outlet grating on the roof. If the rotation direction is wrong, switch
off the voltage and reverse two connections at the terminals of circuit breaker (Q15, see the
Electrical diagram in Electrical connections).
On all compressors:
Run the compressor for a few minutes and check that it operates normally.
Stop the compressor. If necessary, top up the gear casing with oil between the 2 lines on the
sight-glass (SG).
5.3 Starting
The operator must apply all relevant safety precautions, including those mentioned in this
instruction book
Normal starting procedure
1. Check the oil level: the level should be between the 2 lines on the sight-glass (SG) . Top up
if necessary, with the correct type of oil (see section Oil specification).
2. Close the manual condensate drains (see Drain connections).
3. Open the air outlet valve (customer's installation).
4. Switch on the voltage and check that voltage sign (5) lights up.

Press the start button (7) on the Elektronikon
TM
. The compressor starts running and the
automatic operation sign (4) lights up.
