Do you have a question about the Atlas 414 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Atlas 414 is a commercial-grade 4-post lift designed for vehicle maintenance and repair, boasting a substantial 14,000 lb. capacity. This robust lift is equipped with a manual control air-operated system and a manual hydraulic power system, cable-driven, ensuring reliable and precise operation. Its mechanical self-lock and air-driven safety release mechanisms enhance user safety during lifting and lowering procedures. The platform features a sand finish, providing a non-slip surface for vehicles. Adjustable platforms and safety lock ladders allow for versatile positioning and secure locking at various heights. An optional jack is available, offering flexibility with hand pump, air-operated hydraulic pump, or power unit control.

Installation Requirements:

The installation of the Atlas 414 lift requires specific tools and a suitable concrete foundation. The concrete must adhere to the following specifications:

  • Thickness: Minimum 6 inches, reinforced with steel bars, and thoroughly dried before installation.
  • Condition: Good condition with a test strength of 3,000psi (220kg/cm²).
  • Surface: Level and free of cracks.

Tools required for installation include:

  • Rotary Hammer Drill (Φ19)
  • Hammer
  • Level Bar
  • English Spanner (12")
  • Ratchet Spanner With Socket (28#)
  • Wrench set (10#, 12#, 13#, 14#, 17#, 19#, 24#, 30#)
  • Carpenter's Chalk
  • Screw Sets
  • Tape Measure (25')
  • Pliers
  • Socket Head Wrench (3#, 5#, 6#)
  • Lock Wrench

Usage Features:

The Atlas 414 is designed for straightforward operation, with clear steps for lifting and lowering vehicles.

To lift a vehicle:

  1. Ensure the work area is clean and free of obstructions.
  2. Drive the vehicle onto the platform and engage the brake.
  3. Turn on the power and press the "UP" button to raise the lift to the desired working position. It is crucial to ensure the vehicle is steady once the lift is raised.
  4. Push the handle on the release valve to rest the lift on the safety locks, confirming that the safety device is locked at the same height.

To lower a vehicle:

  1. Verify that no personnel or objects are beneath the lift, with only the operator present in the lift area.
  2. Press the "UP" button until the lift clears the locks. Then, press and hold the manual-controlled air valve to release the safety device. Simultaneously, push the handle on the lowering valve with the other hand. The lift will lower automatically.
  3. Once the lift is at its lowest position, drive the vehicle away.
  4. Turn off the power.

Cylinder Bleeding Procedure:

This procedure is critical and must be performed immediately after installation and before placing any vehicle on the lift to remove air from the hydraulic system.

  1. Press the "UP" button to raise the runways 2 to 3 inches off the safety locks. Do not raise the runways to the maximum height.
  2. Disengage the safety locks using either the Mechanical Lock Release Handle or the Air Lock Release Valve (depending on the lift model). While activating the lock release, depress the Lowering Valve handle to fully lower the lift runways to the ground. Maintain pressure on the lowering valve handle for several additional seconds once the runways are resting on the ground.
  3. Press the "UP" button to raise the lift runways approximately 18 inches from the floor, then repeat steps 1 and 2. Perform this cycle at least 2 or 3 more times to ensure all air is completely removed from the hydraulic system.

After completing this procedure, the lift runways should move up and down smoothly and at a consistent speed during operation.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and safe operation of the Atlas 414 lift.

Monthly Maintenance:

  • Re-torque the anchor bolts to 850-100 Foot Pounds. If any bolt does not tighten, it must be replaced, and the lift should not be used until the replacement is complete.
  • Lubricate all cables with appropriate lubricant.
  • Inspect all cable connections, bolts, and pins for wear or damage.
  • Conduct a visual inspection of all hydraulic hoses/lines for any signs of wear or leaks.
  • Lubricate all rollers and safety devices with 90wt. gear oil or an equivalent lubricant.

Every Six Months:

  • Perform a visual inspection of all moving parts for possible wear, interference, or damage.
  • Check and adjust the equalizer tension as necessary to ensure level lifting.
  • Check the columns for plumbness.

Troubleshooting Guide:

The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to address common operational issues:

  • Motor does not run:
    • Cause: Button does not work, wiring connections are poor, motor burned out, AC contactor burned out, or height limit switch is damaged.
    • Remedy: Replace button, repair wiring, repair/replace motor, replace AC contactor, or replace limit switch.
  • Motor runs but the lift is not raised:
    • Cause: Motor runs in reverse rotation, release valve is damaged, gear pump is damaged, relief valve or check valve is damaged, or low oil level.
    • Remedy: Reverse power wires, repair/replace release valve, repair/replace gear pump, repair/replace relief/check valve, or fill tank.
  • Lift does not stay up:
    • Cause: Release valve does not work, relief valve or check valve leakage, or cylinder/fittings leak.
    • Remedy: Repair or replace relevant components.
  • Lift raises too slow:
    • Cause: Oil line is jammed, motor running on low voltage, oil mixed with air, pump leaks, or overload lifting.
    • Remedy: Clean oil line, check electrical system, fill tank, replace pump, or check load.
  • Lift cannot lower:
    • Cause: Safety device is activated, release valve damaged, air cylinder damaged, or oil system is jammed.
    • Remedy: Release safeties, replace/repair release valve, replace cylinder, or clean oil system.
