Then wipe the MMI contro l conso le with a
clean, soft, slightly damp cloth.
The MMI control console should be cleaned
with a brush first so that no dirt is trapped be -
tween the buttons and the housing. We rec-
ommend giving the MMI contro l conso le a fi-
na l wipe with a cloth mo istened with water
and dish washing detergent.
To prevent damage, make sure that no flu-
id ever gets into the MMI contro l console.

Fabrics and fabric coverings
Fabrics and fabric coverings (e.g. seats, door
trim panels, etc.) should be cleaned at regular
interva ls with a vacuum cleaner . This removes
surface dirt particles which could become em-
bedded in the fabr ic through use. Steam
cleaners should not be used, because the
steam tends to push the dirt deeper into the
fabr ic and lock it there.
Normal cleaning
Generally, we recommend using a soft sponge
or a lint-free microfiber cloth to the clean fab-
ric. Brushes should only be used for carpets
and floor mats, s ince other fabric surfaces
could be harmed by brushes .
Normal surface sta ins can be cleaned using a
commercially available foam cleaner . Spread
the foam on the surface of the fabric with a
soft sponge and work it in gently. Do not satu-
rate t he fabric. Then pat the foam dry using
absorbent, dry cloths (e.g . microfiber cloth)
and vacu um it after it has dried completely .
Cleaning stains
Stains caused by beverages (e.g. coffee, fru it
jui ce, etc.) ca n be treated with a mild deter -
gent solution. Apply the detergent solut ion
with a sponge. In the case of stubborn stains,
a dete rgent paste can be applied directly to
the stain and worked into the fabric . After-
wards, use copious amounts of clean water to
remove the rema ining detergent. Apply the
water with a damp cloth or sponge and pat
the fabr ic dry with an absorbent, dry cloth.
Stains from choco late or makeup should have
detergent paste rubbed into them. After-
wards, remove the soap with water (damp
sponge).
Alcohol can be used to treat stains from
grease, oil, lipstick or a ballpoint pen . Melted
grease or dye must be patted off using ab-
sorbent mater ial.
It may be necessary to re-
t reat the areas with detergent paste and wa-
te r.
In the case of general soiling of the uphols -
tery and cover material, we recommend hir ing
a spec ia list that has the equipment to clean
t he seat covers and othe r fabr ic surfa ces by
shampooing and spray extraction.
