Read oil level
" Park your vehicle so that it is horizontally
level.
" Shut the engine off when it is at ope rat ing
temperature.
" Switch only the ignit ion back on.
" Wait approx . two minutes.
" Select: Function button

" Read the oil leve l in the MMI* Display

Depending on the way the vehicle is driven
and the operating conditions, oil consumption
can be up to a 1/2 quart per 600 miles (0.5 li-
ter per 1,000 km) . Consumption may be high-
er within the first 3,000 m iles (5,000 km).
@ Tips
The oil level indicator in the MMI* Display
is only an information display. If the oil
level is too low, a min imum oil warning ap-
pea rs in the instrument cluster. Add o il
c:;, page 23 7 . If the hood has been opened ,
the current oil level is shown in the instru-
men t clu ste r the next time the ign ition is
sw itched on.

" Unscrew the cap~ to the eng ine oil filling

" Carefu lly top off with the appropr iate oil in
0.5 liter doses .
" Check the oil level again after two minutes

" Screw the cap back on the filling hole .
A WARNING
- W hile topping off, the oil must not come
in contact with hot engine parts - fire
hazard!
- The oil filler cap must be properly se-
cured to prevent oil from bei ng sprayed
on t he hot engine and exhaust system
when t he engine is running - fire ha za rd!
- If you r skin has come in contact with the
e ngine oil, you must subsequently
cleanse it t hor oughly.

MMI*. If the message Please reduce oil
