- The rain sensor* is part of the interval
wiping system . Turning off the ignition
will also deact ivate the rain sensor*. To
reactivate the sensor, switch off the in-
terval wiping func t ion, t hen switch it
back on again .
- The washer fluid nozzles of the wind-
shield washer system are heated at low
temperatures when the ignit ion is on.
- When stopping temporarily, e.g. at a
traff ic light, the set speed of the wind-
shield wipers is automatically reduced by
one speed.
Service position
The windshield wiper blades are replaced in
the service position .

If the wiper blades are not frozen to the
wi ndshield, bring t he w indshield wipe r lever
to the basic position @ ~ page 56, fig. 61.

Select: Funct ion button ICARI > Wind shield
wipers
> Service position.
- On - changing t he windsh ield w iper bl ades
can only be done if you bring the wiper arms
to the service position ~ fig . 62 . You will al-
so avoid paint damage to the hood when
work ing on the wipers in this posit ion.
- Off - t he wi ndshield wipers are moved to
t heir initial position again.
(D Note
Never maneuver your vehicle w it h t he
front wi ndshield wipe r arms raised since
Clear vi sion 5 7
they wi ll automatically be moved back to
the ir basic positi on above a speed of 3
mph (6 km/h) and can scratch the hood .
(D Tips
- You can also use the service posit ion, for
example, if you want to protect the
w indshield fr om icing by using a cover.
- The service posit ion automatically
switches to
Off w hen you operate the
w indshield wiper lever, or speed exceeds
3 mph (6 km/h).
Replacing windshield wiper blades
Wiper blad es in good condition help keep the
windshield clear .

Bring the w indshield wipers to the service
position ~ page 57 .

Lift the windshie ld w iper arm up from the
w indshield .
~
Press t he locking knob (!) ¢ fig . 63 on t he
wiper blade . Hold the wipe r blade firmly .
~
Remove the wipe r blade in the direction of
the arrow.

Insta ll t he new w iper blade in t he reta iner
on t he wiper arm @ unti l you hear it cli ck in-
to place on the w iper arm .

Place the wiper arm back on the winds hield.
A WARNING
- Clean your w iper blades regularly with a
w indshie ld washer solution to prevent
streaking. If the w iper blades are very
