In the Audi A8, data between the engine
control unit and the other control units is,
with the exception of a few interfaces,
exchanged via the CAN system.
The system overview shows the information
which is provided by the engine control unit
via the CAN bus, and received and used by
the connected control units.
The following two examples simplify the
complexity of the CAN bus network.
Selector lever lock:
Detailed information concerning the
CAN data bus can be found in
SSP 186.
Kickdown (for example, Audi A6):
Information which is sent by
the engine control unit.
Information which is received
and evaluated by the engine
control unit.
