AXIS Camera Station Administration
50 AXIS Camera Station User’s Manual
Users
Using the integrated Windows user database, a high level of security can be
implemented in AXIS Camera Station where users are granted or denied access
to a specific camera.
Granting user rights If Enable password protection is selected, Windows handles the authentication
of all users accessing AXIS Camera Station and the cameras.
Before a user can be granted access to AXIS Camera Station, users must be
registered on the local computer or have an Active Directory user account.
Important!
Enable password
protection
If enabled, the Administration options, i.e. the different tabs available when
you click File | Administration, are password protected. You can specify the
cameras available to each user and their access rights.
When password protection is enabled, you (i.e. the user currently logged on)
will always be given administrator rights with access to all cameras.
Granting a Local User
Camera Access
1. Select the Enable password protection and Use local user database check
boxes.
2. If necessary, click Refresh to update the list of users.
AXIS Camera Station users must have full rights to the C:\TempACS directory.
The camera access specified for the user is used both in the server environment
and when logging into AXIS Camera Station from a web browser. If password
protection is enabled, only users with Administrator access rights will have
access to the Administration pages.
