sincemostroutersarepre-conguredtostopattemptstoaccesstheprivatenetwork(LAN)fromthepublicnetwork(Internet).
UseNATtraversalwhentheAxisproductislocatedonanintranet(LAN)andyouwishtomakeitavailablefromtheother(WAN)side
ofaNATrouter.WithNATtraversalproperlycongured,allHTTPtrafctoanexternalHTTPportintheNATrouterisforwardedto
theproduct.

found,thedefaultrouterisselected.
AlternativeHTTPport-SelectthisoptiontomanuallydeneanexternalHTTPport.Enteraportintherange1024–65535.Ifthe
porteldisemptyorcontainsthedefaultsetting,whichis0,aportnumberisautomaticallyselectedwhenenablingNATtraversal.

•AnalternativeHTTPportcanbeusedorbeactiveevenifNATtraversalisdisabled.ThisisusefulifyourNATrouterdoesnot
supportUPnPandyouneedtomanuallycongureportforwardingintheNATrouter.
•Ifyouattempttomanuallyenteraportthatisalreadyinuse,anotheravailableportisautomaticallyselected.
•Whentheportisselectedautomaticallyitisdisplayedinthiseld.Tochangethis,enteranewportnumberandclickSave.
FTP
TheFTPserverrunningintheAxisproductenablesuploadofnewrmware,userapplications,etc.TheFTPservercanbedisabled
underSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.

ThisFTPserverhasnothingtodowiththeproduct’sabilitytotransferimagesviaFTPtootherlocationsandservers.
RTSP
TheRTSPserverrunningintheAxisproductallowsaconnectingclienttostartanH.264stream.TheRTSPportnumbercanbe
changedunderSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.Thedefaultportis554.
Note
H.264videostreamswillnotbeavailableiftheRTSPserverisdisabled.
SOCKS
SOCKSisanetworkingproxyprotocol.TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtouseaSOCKSservertoreachnetworksontheother
sideofarewallorproxyserver.ThisfunctionalityisusefuliftheAxisproductislocatedonalocalnetworkbehindarewall,and
notications,uploads,alarms,etcneedtobesenttoadestinationoutsidethelocalnetwork(forexampletheInternet).
