This document is a user manual for Badger Meter's ILR7XX and ILR7XXT series registers, which are used with industrial oval gear flow meters. The manual provides detailed instructions for operation, programming, and maintenance of these devices.
Function Description
The ILR7XX and ILR7XXT registers are designed to display and process flow data from industrial oval gear, nutating disc (RCDL), and turbine (Vision) meters. They provide a digital readout of cumulative volume (totalizers) and flow rate, and offer various programming options to adapt to different measurement requirements and meter types. The ILR750, ILR750T, ILR701, and ILR701T models also include industrial analog and pulse output capabilities, allowing for integration into larger control systems.
Important Technical Specifications

Pulse and Analog Output (ILR750 and ILR750T):
- Analog Output (4-20mA):
- External power: 8-24V DC input (Yellow wire).
- Analog output: Green wire (4-20mA).
- External ground: Brown wire.
- External load: 0 to 250 ohms.
- Flow rate is linear between 4mA minimum and 20mA maximum set points.
- Pulse Output:
- External power: 8-24V DC input (Yellow wire).
- Pulse output: White wire.
- External ground: Brown wire.
- Internal pull-up resistor (1 KΩ) or optional open collector output when jumper is removed.
- Output is scalable in pulses per liter or pulses per gallon.
- Pulse duration is programmable (2, 10, 20, 40, 100 milliseconds).
Scale Factor:
- Range: 0.5000 to 2.0000.
- Factory preset: 1.0000.
- Displayed as 1 integer digit and 4 decimal digits.
Meter Pulse Rate:
- Range: 00000.01 to 99999.99 pulses per liter or per gallon.
Usage Features
Normal Operation:
- Display Activation: Press either TOTAL or RESET button if the screen is blank.
- Batch Totalizer: Displays cumulative volume (6 digits). Resettable by pressing RESET after 2 seconds of no flow.
- Resettable/Non-Resettable Totalizer Toggle: Press TOTAL to switch between the 5-digit resettable totalizer and the 5 least significant digits of the non-resettable totalizer.
- Reset Resettable Totalizer: Press and hold TOTAL, then press and release RESET.
- 11-Digit Non-Resettable Totalizer: While the non-resettable total is displayed, press and hold TOTAL for 2 seconds. The top row shows 6 most significant digits, bottom row shows 5 least significant digits.
- Flow Rate Display: PER MIN is shown with the unit of measure.
- Low Battery Indicator (LBat): Illuminates when battery is at 10% capacity.
- Firmware Checksum: Press and hold RESET for 3 seconds to display.
Programming Mode:
- Entry: Press TOTAL three times, then RESET three times, all within two seconds. No flow must be detected.
- Navigation: TOTAL button advances to the next parameter. RESET button changes the current flashing selection.
- Units of Measure: Select L, GAL, QT, or PT.
- Scale Factor Adjustment: Adjust the 5-digit scale factor (1 integer, 4 decimal) between 0.5000 and 2.0000.
- Meter Pulse Rate Adjustment: Set the pulse rate (pulses per liter or gallon) between 00000.01 and 99999.99.
- Register Orientation: Set "I" for inline, "P" for perpendicular, or "o" for remote versions, nutating disc, and turbine meters.
- Display Mode: Choose between totalizer screen ("C") or flow rate screen ("F") as the default display.
- Output Pulse Length (ILR750/T): Select pulse duration (0, 2, 10, 20, 40, 100 milliseconds). "0" disables pulse output.
- Analog Minimum Flow Rate (ILR750/T): Set the flow rate corresponding to 4mA output (default 0.0 LPM/GPM).
- Analog Maximum Flow Rate (ILR750/T): Set the flow rate corresponding to 20mA output (default 30 LPM / 8 GPM).
- Linearization (ILR701/T, ILR750/T): Program up to 9 linearization points to correct flow meter errors. Minimum 3 points required. Flow rates do not need to be programmed in order.
- Exit Programming Mode: Press and hold both TOTAL and RESET buttons. The screen will flash and then go blank.
