3. Do not operate saw from a ladder or in a tree.
4. Make sure the chain will not make contact with any object while
starting the engine. Never try to start the saw when the guide
bar is in a cut.
5. Do not put pressure on the saw at the end of the cut. Applying
pressure can cause you to lose control when the cut is
completed.
6. Stop the engine before setting the saw down.
7. Do not operate a chain saw that is damaged, improperly
adjusted, or not completely and securely assembled. Always
replace bar, chain, hand guard, or chain brake immediately if it
becomes damaged, broken or is otherwise removed.
8. With the engine stopped, hand carrys the chain saw with the
mufer away from your body, and the guide bar and chain to
the rear, preferably covered with a scabbard.
Physical condition
You must be in good physical condition and mental health and not
under the inuence of any substance (drugs, alcohol), which might
impair vision, dexterity or judgment.
Proper clothing
Clothing must be sturdy and snug-tting, but allow complete
freedom of movement. Avoid loose-tting jackets, scarfs, neckties,
jewelry, ared or cuffed pants, or anything that could become
entangled with the saw or brush.
Protect your hands with gloves when handling saw and saw chain.
Heavy-duty, nonslip gloves improve your grip and protect your
hands.
Good footing is most important in chain saw work.
Wear sturdy boots with nonslip soles. Steel-toed safety boots are
recommended.
Proper eye protection is a must. Non-fogging, vented goggles and a
face screen is recommended. Their use reduces the risk of eye and
facial injury.
Wear an approved safety hard hat to protect your head. Chain saw
noise may damage your hearing.
Always wear noise protection equipment (ear plugs or ear muffs) to
protect your hearing.
