This document is an assembly and operating manual for the BeefEater Integrated Series barbecues, models BSH158SA and BSL158SA, intended for use in Australia and New Zealand. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance, along with important safety information and warranty details.
Function Description:
The BeefEater Integrated Series barbecues are designed for outdoor cooking, offering both grilling and roasting capabilities. They are available in two main configurations: the BSL158SA with a slimline lid and the BSH158SA with a roasting hood. Both models feature multiple burners, cast iron cooking surfaces (grills and hotplates), and an oil management system with removable reservoirs. The barbecues are equipped with Flame Failure Technology, a safety system that automatically shuts off the gas supply to an individual burner if its flame extinguishes. They are designed for integration into a benchtop, suitable for outdoor kitchens or living areas.
Important Technical Specifications:

- Maximum Gas Consumption:
- Natural Gas: 67.2 MJ/h
- Universal LPG: 64.0 MJ/h
- Propane: 71.0 MJ/h
- Injector Orifice Diameter:
- Natural Gas: 1.75mm
- Universal LPG: 0.90mm
- Propane: 0.95mm
- Number of Injectors: 6 for all gas types.
- Regulator Pressure:
- Natural Gas: 1.00 kPa
- Universal LPG/Propane: 2.75 kPa
- Clearances to Combustible Materials:
- No part of the appliance in contact with or within 10mm of any combustible material.
- Minimum clearance to a vertical wall or splashback above bench level and behind the barbecue: 450mm for roasting hood models, 250mm for slimline lid models.
- Vertical clearance above the cooking surface to any combustible materials: at least 1000mm.
- Minimum clearance to a vertical wall above bench level (combustible material) on left and right sides: 250mm.
- Benchtop Dimensions: Minimum depth (front to rear) of 600mm.
- Cut-out Size: 1025mm x 502mm.
- Venting Requirements: An open area of no less than 700mm x 25mm is required for combustion air and exhausting products of combustion. For Universal LPG in an enclosure, low-level venting with a minimum opening of 200cm² is required to prevent gas accumulation.
- Power Source for Ignition: AA battery.
Usage Features:
- Integrated Design: Designed to be built into a benchtop, offering a seamless look in outdoor kitchen setups.
- Cooking Surfaces: Includes cast iron grills and hotplates, allowing for versatile cooking methods.
- Oil Management System: Features channels that drain oil to easily removable reservoirs located at the front of the cooking surface for convenient disposal and cleaning.
- Flame Failure Technology: Enhances safety by automatically shutting off gas if a burner flame goes out.
- Automatic Ignition: Burners can be lit by depressing and rotating the control knob to 'BOOST'.
- Manual Lighting: A match holder with chain is provided for manual ignition if the automatic system fails.
- Preheating: Recommended for 5 minutes before cooking for optimal results.
- Direct Cooking/Grilling: Burners can be reduced to Medium to Low settings after preheating to maintain desired cooking temperatures.
- Indirect Cooking/Roasting (with roasting hood): Recommended to use only the two outer burners on a low setting to maintain satisfactory roasting temperatures and prevent overheating of the hood.
- Slimline Lid Safety (BSL158SA): Fitted with a pivoting safety leg that prevents the lid from closing when burners are operating, ensuring gas is turned off before closing. The lid is designed for weather protection, not as a cooking hood.
- Gas Conversion Kit: A Universal LPG and Propane conversion kit is included, allowing for conversion by a qualified licensed person if needed.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Cleaning:
- Cast Iron Plates: Cleaned after each use by removing solid material with a brass bristled barbecue brush or plastic scourer, wiping grease, and washing with mild detergent and hot water. Surfaces should be dried immediately and coated with a light layer of cooking oil.
- Stainless Steel Surfaces: Washed with a soft dishcloth, hot soapy water, and dried with a clean cloth. Abrasive or caustic cleaners, scourers, or metal scrapers should not be used. Special care is needed around control knobs to prevent water entry.
- Oil Reservoirs: Easily removed by pulling upwards, contents disposed of responsibly, and washed with warm soapy water (dishwasher safe).
- Burner Box Interior: Regularly cleaned by removing cooking plates, flame tamers, and rear heat shield panel. Burners can also be removed for cleaning.
- Intensive Cleaning Cycle (Cast Hotplate and Grills): For heavily soiled surfaces, with the hood/lid fully open, remove attachments, turn all burners to 'BOOST' for approximately 30 minutes to turn baked-on food or grease to ash. Wipe clean with a damp cloth after cooling and season with cooking oil.
- Ignition System: Battery (AA) should be checked and replaced periodically.
- Air Vents: Checked prior to each use to ensure they are clear of obstructions.
- Stainless Steel Burners: Inspected and cleaned at least once per year to ensure no residues and clear gas ports.
- Leak Testing: Regular leak tests are required after any gas connection or reconnection using a soap and water solution.
- Professional Servicing: The appliance must be installed and serviced only by a qualified licensed person. Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, or maintenance can void the manufacturer's warranty.
