180 MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT
DANGER
ÿ Battery acid generates hydrogen
gas which is ammable and
explosive under certain conditions.
It is present within a battery at
all times, even in a discharged
condition. Keep all ames and
sparks (cigarettes) away from the
battery.
ÿ Wear eye protection when working
with a battery. In the event of
battery acid contact with skin,
eyes, or clothing, wash the aected
areas immediately with water for at
least ve minutes. Seek medical
attention.
Battery Removal
ÿ Make sure the ignition switch is
turned o.
ÿ The adjuster is located on top of
theright front fork leg.
ÿ Refer to the Seats section in the
GENERAL INFORMATION chapter.
ÿ Disconnect the negative (–) cable
from the negative (–) terminal.
ÿ Slide the red cap from the positive
ÿ (+) terminal.
ÿ Disconnect the positive (+) cable
from the positive (+) terminal.
ÿ Take the battery out of the battery
case.
