7.7 Replacing the shaft seal
The compressors OS.(A)74-EX are equipped with a
special shaft seal (special design for use in potentially
explosive area, see figure 6, page 31). This shaft seal
differs from the standard shaft seal by the two oil bar-
rier connections and by a special lip seal.
Mount and dismount the shaft seal according the the
maintenance instructions SW-500.
Special details for mounting the new stationary unit
To avoid damages of the shaft seal, use the mounting
sleeve which is included in the kit of the shaft seal.
Place the mounting sleeve on the shaft until reaching
the stop.
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to a damaged lip seal!
Slide the new stationary unit over the mounting
seal.
Proceed very carefully! Do not tilt!
Finally mount the connections, hoses and reservoir
for the oil barrier (see chapter Shaft seal, page 22).
Before starting the compressor, make sure that the
oil barrier of the shaft seal is filled with oil.
