SERVSWITCH™ SPECTRA
3.3 Connecting the Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse
The first step in your ServSwitch Spectra installation
is attaching your ”user station” equipment (keyboard,
mouse, monitor, and—if you want—headphones or
speakers). Plug these into the ports in the Spectra’s
“user-station area” (the blue-green bottom section
of the rear panel whose video port is labeled “ ”):
1. Plug the monitor’s video cable into the monitor
port on the Spectra labeled .
2. Plug your keyboard into the nearby PS/2 type
keyboard port labeled . If your keyboard is an
old PC/AT type with a larger 5-pin DIN connector,
you’ll need a keyboard adapter such as product
code FA211.
3. Plug your mouse into the nearby PS/2 type mouse
port labeled . If your mouse is an old serial
mouse with a D-shaped DB9 or DB25 connector,
you’ll need to get a newer PS/2 type mouse. Don’t
worry—with the help of a coaxial CPU-Extension
Cable (EHN408) and an FA312 adapter, the
Spectra can translate the PS/2 mouse signals
into serial mouse signals; see Section 4.10.
