u Pushthehandlecompletelyontothehousingandposition
itslightlyuntilit“snaps”intoplace.
u Toadjustthehandleupordown,pressinonthebutton
(21)andraiseorlowerthehandle(FigureH).
u Thehandleshouldbeadjustedsothatyourfrontarmis
straightwhenthetrimmerisintheworkingposition.
Height adjustment
Warning!Adjustthelengthofthetrimmertoobtainproper
workingpositionsshowninFiguresJ-J3.
u Theoverallheightofthetrimmercanbeadjustedby
looseningtheheight-adjustcollar(6)byrotatingitinthe
directionofthearrowshowninFigureI.
u Movetheupperhousingstraightupordown.Whenthe
desiredheightisachieved,tightenthecollarbyrotatingit
oppositeofthedirectionshowninFigureI.
Releasing the cutting line
Intransit,thecuttinglineistapedtothespoolhousing.
u Removethetapeholdingthecuttinglinetothespool
housing.
Operation
Warning!Alwaysusepropereyeprotection.
Warning!Beforeyoubegintrimming,onlyusetheappropriate
typeofcuttingline.
Note:inspectareatobetrimmedandremoveanywire,cord,
orstring-likeobjectswhichcouldbecomeentangledinthe
rotatinglineorspool.Beparticularlycarefultoavoidanywire
whichmightbebentoutwardlyintothepathoftheappliance,
suchasbarbsatthebaseofachainlinkfence.
Switching on and off
u Toswitchtheapplianceon,pushthelock-offbutton(2),
andsqueezethetrigger(1).
u Toswitchtheapplianceoff,releasethetrigger.
Operating the trimmer
u Withtheuniton,angleunitandslowlyswingthetrimmer
sidetosideasshowninFigureJ.
u Maintainacuttingangleof5°to10°asshowninFigure
J1.Donotexceed10°(FigureJ2).Cutwiththetipofthe
line.Tokeepdistancefromhardsurfacesuseedgewheel
(9).
u Maintainaminimumdistanceof60cmbetweentheguard
andyourfeetasshowninFigureJ3.Toacheivethis
distanceadjusttheoverallheightofthetrimmerasshown
inFigureI.
Convert to edging mode
Warning!Thewheelededgeguideshouldonlybeusedwhen
intheedgingmode.Thetrimmercanbeusedintrimming
modeoredgingmodetotrimoverhanginggrassalonglawn
edgesandowerbeds.Foredging,thetrimmerheadshould
beinthepositionshowninFigurel.Ifitisnot:
u Removethebatteryfromthetrimmer.
u Grasptheflip-to-edgecollar(7)andpushdownas
showninpart1ofFigureK.
u Rotatetheip-to-edgecollar180°counterclockwiseas
showninpart2,untilthehandlesnapsbackintothe
upperhalfofthetrimmer.
u Toreturntotrimmingposition,pulltheip-to-edgecollar
downandrotatetheheadclockwisebacktoitsoriginal
position.
Note:Youwillexperiencefasterthannormalcuttinglinewear
ifthetrimmerlineispositioneddirectlyoverthesidewalkor
abrasivesurface.
Edging
Warning!WhenbeingusedasanEdger,stones,piecesof
metalandotherobjectscanbethrownoutathighspeedby
theline.Thetrimmerandguardaredesignedtoreducethe
danger.However,MAKE SUREthatotherpersonsandpets
areatleast30maway.Optimumcuttingresultsareachieved
onedgesdeeperthan50mm.
u Donotusethistrimmertocreatetrenches.
u Usingtheedgingwheel(9),guidethetrimmerasshownin
Figurel.
u Positiontheedgingwheelontheedgeofthesidewalkor
abrasivesurfacesothecuttinglineisoverthegrassordirt
areatobeedged.
u Tomakeaclosercut,slightlytiltthetrimmer.
Speed control & runtime extension mode
Thisstringtrimmergivesyouthechoicetooperateata
moreefcientspeedtoextendtheruntimeforlargerjobs,or
acceleratethetrimmerspeedforhigh-performancecutting
(FigureM).
u Toextendruntime,pullthespeed-controlswitch(4)back
towardthebattery(12)intoposition#1.Thismodeisbest
forlargerprojectsthatrequiremoretimetocomplete.
u Toacceleratethetrimmer,pushthespeed-controlswitch
forwardtowardthetrimmerhead(8)intoposition#2.
Thismodeisbesttocutthroughheaviergrowthandfor
applicationsthatneedhigherRPM.
Note:Wheninaccelerationmode(#2),runtimewillbede-
creasedascomparedtowhentrimmerisinextendedruntime
mode(#1).
Helpful cutting tips
u Usethetipofthestringtodothecutting;donotforce
stringheadintouncutgrass.Useedgeguidealongsuch
thingsasfences,housesandowerbedsforbestprac-
tices.
uWireandpicketfencescauseextrastringwear,even
breakage.Stoneandbrickwalls,curbs,andwoodmay
wearstringrapidly.
u Donotallowspoolcaptodragongroundorothersur-
faces.
u Inlonggrowthcutfromthetopdownanddonotexceed
300mmhigh.
u Keeptrimmertiltedtowardtheareabeingcut;thisisthe
bestcuttingarea.
u Thetrimmercutswhenpassingtheunitfromtherightto
left.Thiswillavoidthrowingdebrisattheoperator.
