GPS
GPS is not required but without it you will lose the following features:
Retrieving Trip locations
Retrieving Dealer locations
Retrieving Data Logging locations
Direction and Elevation gauges
When the App starts up it will start monitoring your GPS unless you've set the 'Do Not Use GPS' in
the Settings page. The App uses the device's internal GPS so if you have an external one, you may
need to configure it for other application use.
If the App cannot retrieve your GPS location there are many reasons such as:
No GPS - you don't have a GPS receiver in your device
Authorization - you need to allow the App to access your location
No Signal - your GPS cannot find the GPS satellites
External GPS - not configured properly to allow the App to access the location
The Direction and Elevation gauges use your GPS to retrieve the GPS heading and altitude rather
than location. On the View Dash page these are updated every second when they are locked. If for
some reason they stop updating, you can restart them by single tapping the gauge.
Note, in iOS devices the Direction gauge may activate the device's Compass Calibration. If this
occurs you can turn off Compass Calibration by going to Settings/Privacy/Location Services/System
Services (you'll need to scroll down to System Services) and turning off Compass Calibration.
Internet Connection
Like GPS, an Internet connection is not required but without it you will lose the following features:
Emailing Trip reports and your trip spreadsheet
Automatically retrieving Trip location's city and state
Emailing Fault reports
Retrieving Dealer locations
Emailing Data logging reports and data spreadsheet
Sharing a Dash with yourself or a friend
Importing a Dash from a friend
Download other Dashes from the Dash Repository
