23 00 Removing/installing gearbox
23 00 Removing gearbox
L Note:
If the gearbox is to be fully disassembled, remove
the main (centre) stand (a 46.20).
– Raise the frame (
a 46.29).
e Important:
Do not undo the clamp at the left rubber
mounting (1) or else a new basic adjustment proce-
dure will have to be carried out.
•
Remove screw (2) securing the gearbox to the
frame.
•
Loosen the left/right engine mountings at the
cross-member.
•
Cut through the cable tie (arrow) and disconnect
the cable for the side stand switch.
•
Remove clutch release rod (3) from the gearbox.
•
Undo fasteners (4, 5) and remove the heat shield.
•
Remove the 2 screws (8) and take off the starter
motor (7).
L Note:
If not removed, the main (centre) stand must be re-
tracted when the gearbox is removed.
•
Undo the 6 fasteners (6) holding the gearbox to
the intermediate flange.
•
Pull the gearbox out of the intermediate flange
until the input shaft stub is free, then remove the
gearbox.
