Cutting Grooves
(Dado Cut)
The depth stop adjustment is a featur
e used
when cutting grooves (dados) in the workpiece.
The depth adjustment is used to limit blade
depth to cut grooves.
A groove can be cut as a slide cut.
1. Set the depth of cut by loosening the jam nuts on
the depth adjustment bolt (Figure 31). Do not
change the position of the two (2) jam nuts on the
end of the bolt.
2. Turn the depth stop bolt to the correct setting.

Note: Auxillary fence is needed to get a con-
stant depth. The thickness of the fence
depends on the depth of the dado.
3. Tighten the jam nuts against the depth stop tab.
4. Cut the two outside grooves.
5. Use a wood chisel or make multiple passes by
sliding the wood over to one side to r
emove the
material between the outside grooves (Figure 32).
