If your Bosch Iron is smoking when first switched on, this may be due to certain components being lightly greased at the factory. If it occurs during later use, the soleplate may be soiled. Clean the soleplate according to the cleaning instructions in this manual. This could also be caused by using the steam function before it has reached the correct temperature, water condensing inside the pipes, or a build up of scale or minerals in the steam tank.

What to do if dirt comes out through the soleplate of my Bosch Sensixx DS37?
    • F
      fitzpatrickmichaelAug 30, 2025
If dirt comes out through the soleplate of your Bosch Iron, this may be due to a build-up of scale or minerals in the steam tank, or because chemical products or additives have been used. To resolve this, use tap water mixed 50% with distilled or demineralised water. To prolong the optimum steam function, mix tap water with distilled water 1:1. If the tap water in your district is very hard, mix tap water with distilled water 1:2. Never add any products to the water.
