• Do not carry out any repair work or maintenance on the product.
• The argon instrument is intended for monopolar, argon-assisted coagulation
and may only be used in conjunction with an HF generator with argon support.
Any other use is beyond the responsibility of the manufacturer.
• The use of original manufacturer accessories is recommended.
3.2 Use-related
• Report any incidents or near accidents to your country’s regulatory
agency for medical devices. When doing so, follow your own facility’s
internal reporting system. Notify your local BOWA specialist retailer in
such cases
• The "BF" / "CF" applied part of the HF device used is extended by the
instrument connected to it.
• These devices may only be used in medical facilities by trained medical
personnel
• Avoid direct skin contact with HF cables
• If patients have a pacemaker, consult a cardiologist before the application.
• The argon probe should only be activated with suitable visual control
• Never place the gas outlet nozzle of the flexible argon probes directly on
the tissue during gas activation. Danger of gas emphysema!
• The gas outlet nozzle must not be guided and activated vertically above the
tissue. An angle of approx. 45º to the tissue has been proven to work well.
• Do not inject argon into the vascular system. Danger of embolism!
• Warning! Risk of explosion or ignition of endogenous gases. The patient
must be prepared for endoscopic procedures (e.g. by bowel cleansing;
flushing with argon gas).
• Perform electrosurgical operations only with insufflation of non-flammable
gases (CO
2
).
• Make sure that there are no explosive gases or inflammable fluids and
materials in the surgical area.
• The argon gas-assisted application is a monopolar HF surgical application. The
safety rules of monopolar high-frequency surgery must be observed.
• The probe tip may still be hot immediately after activation. Danger of burns!
• Do not place flexible probes on the patient to prevent any personal injury
in case of inadvertant HF activation.
• To prevent burns (thermal overload), please comply with the following:
- Make sure that there is no visible exposed electrode shaft metal at
the junction of the active handle/electrode connection and the shaft
of the active electrode.
- Always make sure that there is a good electrical connection between
the active handle/connector and the shaft of the active electrode.
- Always make sure that there is a good fit between the active
handle/connector and the shaft of the active electrode.
• Argon of quality 4.8 is to be used.
