2 Intended Purpose
Electrosurgical equipment for tissue cutting and coagulation.
2.1 Indications
Monopolar flexible argon probes and associated cables are designed for argon
plasma coagulation of biological tissue in flexible endoscopic surgery in
various surgical disciplines.
2.2 Contraindications
Monopolar flexible argon probes and associated cables must not be used in direct
contact with the heart, central circulatory system or central nervous system.
Do not use monopolar flexible argon probes and associated cables if these
surgical techniques are contraindicated.
The monopolar flexible argon probes and associated cables must not be
used if, in the opinion of an experienced physician or according to current
specialist literature, such use would endanger the patient, for example due to
the patient’s general condition, or if other contraindications are present.
3 Safety instructions
3.1 Device-related
Goods delivered in non-sterile condition must be cleaned and sterilised
before use! Sterilisable at up to 137°C.
Do not sterilise the product in hot air.
Check the product for damage after reprocessing and before use
CAUTION:
A visual inspection alone is not sufficient to ensure the integrity of the insulation.
Defective probes and HF cable must not be repaired. They must be
replaced by new items.
In order to avoid any risk of injury and electric shocks for the patient and
operating personnel, make sure that the power supply is switched off before
connecting or disconnecting the HF cable and accessories to/from the
electrosurgical device.
To disconnect, grasp the HF cable by the plug and never pull directly on the
HF cable itself.
Gas ionisation requires high HF voltages: make sure that the electrical
insulation of cables and applicators is intact.
Follow the instructions for use of the HF generator and associated argon probe.
To avoid burns (thermal overload), please comply with the following:
o Make sure that all electrical plug connections are correctly connected.
o Do not stress the products beyond their mechanical limits (e.g. by
excessive bending, buckling or crushing).
o The lowest maximum voltage of the HF cable or argon probe must not
be exceeded.
