Why does my BUSCH R 5 RA/RC 0010 C fumes or expels oil droplets through the gas discharge?
    • K
      Kimberly RoyAug 29, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump is fuming or expelling oil droplets, check the exhaust filter's position and correct it if necessary. Ensure the o-ring is present and undamaged; add or replace it if needed. If the exhaust filter is cracked or clogged, replace it. For versions with an oil return valve (RA ... C, 0.5 mbar), shut down the pump regularly for short periods if it runs for more than 2 hours to prevent oil accumulation in the upper chamber of the oil separator. Also, check that the oil return valve functions properly, allowing oil to flow from the upper to the bottom chamber when the pump is shut down.

Why is the oil black in my BUSCH Water Pump?
    • M
      Michael SalasAug 31, 2025
The oil in your BUSCH Water Pump may be black due to extended oil change intervals or overheating. To resolve this, flush the pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil. If the oil life is too short, consider using oil with better heat resistance or retrofitting cooling.

Why is the oil watery and colored white in my BUSCH R 5 RA/RC 0010 C?
    • W
      Walter WashingtonSep 3, 2025
The oil in your BUSCH Water Pump might be watery and white if the pump has aspirated water or significant amounts of humidity. If your version has a gas ballast, the filter might be clogged. To address this, flush the pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil. Modify the operational mode to prevent further water aspiration. If equipped with a gas ballast with a paper filter, replace the filter.

What causes the oil to foam in my BUSCH Water Pump?
    • P
      Paul FloresSep 6, 2025
The oil foams in your BUSCH Water Pump because of mixing incompatible oils. To fix this, flush the pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil. Make sure the proper oil is used for topping up.

Why is the oil resinous and/or sticky in my BUSCH Water Pump?
    • K
      Kyle CoxSep 9, 2025
The oil in your BUSCH Water Pump is resinous and/or sticky due to using an improper oil type or topping up with incompatible oil. To resolve this, flush the pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil, ensuring you use the correct oil for both changing and topping up.

What to do if the drive motor is running, but the BUSCH R 5 RA/RC 0010 C stands still?
    • C
      Carlos LiSep 12, 2025
If the drive motor runs but the BUSCH Water Pump remains still, the coupling between the motor and the pump is likely defective. Replace the coupling element to resolve this issue.

Why does my BUSCH R 5 RA/RC 0010 C not reach the usual pressure?
    • O
      osmithNov 15, 2025
Several factors can cause the BUSCH Water Pump not to reach its usual pressure. The vacuum system or suction line may not be leak-tight; check hose or pipe connections for leaks. If a vacuum relief valve/regulating system is installed, it may be misadjusted or defective, requiring adjustment, repair, or replacement. Other potential causes include contaminated oil (change the oil), insufficient oil in the reservoir (top up oil), a partially clogged exhaust filter (replace the exhaust filter), or a partially clogged screen in the suction connection (clean the screen). Also, check for partial clogging or small diameter in the suction, discharge, or pressure line (remove the clogging or use a larger diameter line). The valve disk of the inlet non-return valve might be stuck (disassemble, clean...

What to do if my BUSCH Water Pump runs very hot?
    • W
      William MurrayNov 18, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump runs very hot, ensure sufficient air ventilation by cleaning the fan cowling, wheel, ventilation grille, and cooling fins. If installed in a narrow space, ensure adequate ventilation. For pumps with an oil cooler, clean the intermediate spaces of the finned tube. Also, check that the ambient and inlet gas temperatures are within permitted ranges. Other possible causes include a partially clogged exhaust filter (replace it), insufficient oil in the reservoir (top up oil), or burnt oil from overheating (flush the pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil; consider using oil with better heat resistance or retrofit cooling). Ensure the mains frequency or voltage is within the tolerance range by providing a more stable power supply. Partial clogging of fil...

What to do if my BUSCH R 5 RA/RC 0010 C does not start?
    • C
      Christopher JohnsonNov 21, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump fails to start, first ensure the drive motor is supplied with the correct voltage. Check if the drive motor starter overload protection is appropriately set by comparing its trip level to the nameplate data, adjusting if necessary. Inspect the fuses and replace any that have blown. If it is a version with an alternating current motor, the drive motor capacitor may be defective (repair through Busch service). Also, ensure the connection cable is adequately sized to prevent voltage drops. A blocked pump or motor could also be the issue; disconnect the motor from the power supply, remove the fan cover, and try turning the motor by hand. If still frozen, remove the motor and check it and the pump separately. If the pump is blocked, it should be repaired by Busch servic...

What to do if my BUSCH Water Pump starts, but labours or runs noisily or rattles?
    • L
      lewisjamesNov 24, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump starts but runs with labouring noises or rattles, check for loose connections in the drive motor terminal box, ensuring all motor coils are properly connected according to the connection diagram, especially on motors with six coils. Tighten or replace any loose connections. For three-phase motors, verify and rectify the running direction. If the pump has been idle for weeks or months, let it warm up with the inlet closed. High oil viscosity due to low ambient temperature can also cause this issue; use synthetic oil or a lower viscosity class, or warm the oil before startup. Ensure proper oil quantity and type are used, and perform an oil change if it hasn't been done recently. A clogged exhaust filter with burnt oil may also be the cause; flush the pump, replace th...
