6. Handling Instructions
6.1 Initial operation and lter cartridge change
Priortotherstuseorwhenchangingtheexhaustedltercartridge:Clean
jug,funnelandlidoftheBWTwaterlteringsystemwithadetergentandrinse
thoroughly with warm water. Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or scrub-
bingsponges,asscratchmarkscouldbeleftontheBWTwaterlteringsystem.
Jug and funnel can be washed in the dishwasher. The lid may not be washed in
the dishwasher.
Inordertoachievebestpossibleltrationperformance,werecommendyouto
putthenewltercartridgeintapwaterfor5minutes.Afterthatpleasediscard
the water.
Subsequentlyinsertthenewltercartridgeintothefunnelofthewaterltering
system by pressing it in lightly into place.
IftheBWTwaterlteringsystemisequippedwiththeautomaticllingsystem
„Easy-Fill“inthelid,itisnotnecessarytotakeoffthelidwhenllingthejug.
The„Easy-Fill“systemopensautomatically,whenthewaterjetmeetstheope-
ningandclosesautomaticallyafterlling.
DiscardtherstlteredwaterllingandrelltheBWTwaterlteringsystem.
Fineblackparticlesofactivatedcarboncouldbeushedout,whichare,
however,completelyharmless.Inthiscasewerecommendtorellthejugand
discard the water again until it is clear and free from particles.
TheBWTwaterlteringsystemisnowreadyforuse.

The „Easy-Control“ counts the number of
llingsandtheservicelifeandremindsyou
oftheltercartridgechangebyashing
inthedisplay.Iftheltercartridgeisnot
changed, the „Easy-Control“ still continues
tocountthesubsequentllings.Byllingor
by pressing the „Easy-Control“ button once,
thecurrentnumberofllingsisshown.
In the electronic exchange indicator an
averageltercapacityisprogrammed
dependingontheBWTwaterltering
systemused:
BWTwaterlteringsystemwith
(oval)ltercartridge:
120 litres
BWTwaterlteringsystemwith
(round)ltercartridge:
100 litres

Pleaseobservethatthe„Easy-Control“indicatesthenumberofllings(thevolumeof
thefunnelvariesdependingontheBWTwaterlteringsystem)andnottheltered
number of litres. See the above table.
Achangeoftheltercartridgeshouldbecarriedoutatthelatestafter8weeks,evenif
thecapacity(numberofllings)oftheltercartridgehasnotyetbeenreached.Thisis
indicatedbyashingofthe„Easy-Control“display.
The „Easy-Control“ is designed for a service life of 3.5 years.
In the event of your „Easy-Control“ being defective, please contact our service team
(see cap. 11). We will be happy to replace the defective electronics for you.
