Environmental Conditions
Temperature
The Dimension Master Plus uses
automatic temperature compensation for ensuring
the consistency of measurements in the temperature
range of 32ºF to 100ºF (0ºC to 38ºC). The response
rate of this circuitry enables you to move between
warm and cold areas and measure with reasonable
accuracy. However, we recommend that you do not
leave your Dimension Master Plus in very cold or
very hot conditions (e.g., sunlight in a car), as the
unit will then require more time to adjust to ambi-
ent temperature.
As long as the internal temperature is approxi-
mately equal to the ambient temperature, accuracy
is unaffected. It is best to wait a few moments for
the unit’s internal temperature to stabilize to the
ambient temperature. You may compensate for this
by adding 1% of the measured distance for each
10ºF (5.5ºC) that the internal temperature is below
the actual ambient temperature or subtracting 1% of
the measured distance for each 1F (5.5ºC) that
the internal temperature is above the actual ambient
temperature.
