– Always follo w proper procedures for crossing the side of a hill a s d es cribed fur-
ther in this Operator's Guide. Av oid hills with excessively slippery or loose sur-
faces. Shift your weight to the uphill s ide of the v ehicle .
– Always use proper procedures if you s ta ll or roll backwards when climbing
a hill. To a v oid s talling, us e proper range and maintain a steady speed when
climbing a hill . If y ou stall or roll backwards, follo w the special procedure for
braking described in this O pera tor's Guide. Dismount on the uphill s ide or to a
side if pointed straight uphil l. Turn the v ehicle around and remount, following
the procedure described further in this Operator' s Guide.
– Always check for obstacles before operating in a new area. Nev er attempt to
operate over large obstacles, such as large rock s o r fallen trees. Alwa y s follow
proper proc edures whe n op erating over obs ta c les as d es cribed furthe r in this
Operator's Guide.
– Always be careful whe n skidding or sliding. Learn to s a fely control skidding or
sliding by practicing at low speeds and on le vel smooth terrain. O n extremely
slipp ery surfaces, such as ice, go slowly and be very cautious in order to reduce
the chance of ski dding out of control.
– Never operate this vehicle in fa st flow ing water or in wa ter deeper tha n that
specified in thi s Operator' s Guide. Re m em ber that wet brakes m a y have
reduced stopping a bil ity. Test y our brak es after leaving water, m ud or snow. If
necessary, appl y them several time s to let friction dry out the pads.
– Always k eep in mind that braking dista nc e is readily affect ed by but not limi ted
to; weather and terrain conditio ns, braking system and tire conditions, vehicle
speed and a ttitude, and vehicle load includin g to wi ng. Re m em ber to adjust
your drivin g accordingly.
– Always be sure there are no obsta c les or people behind the v ehicle when you
operate in reverse. When it is safe to proce ed in rev ers e, go slowly.
– BRP rec om m ends sitting on your ATV whe n opera t ing i n r evers e. Avoid s t a nd-
ing up. You r weight c ould shift forward against throttle lever, ca us ing an unex-
pected acceleration and loss of control.
– Always use the size and type ti re s spec ified further in this Opera tor' s Guide.
Always ma intain proper tire pressure a s describe d furthe r in this Operator's
Guide.
– Never modify this v ehicle through improper installation or us e of accessories.
Only use BRP's approve d accessories. NEVER install passenger seat or use
the cargo a rea to carry a passenger.
– Never exceed the stated load lim its for this vehicle including operator, all
other loads and added accesso ries. Cargo should be properly distributed and
securely a tta c hed. Reduce speed and f oll ow instruc tions in this m a nua l for
carrying cargo or pulling a trailer. Allow greater distance fo r braking.
– Never opera te the vehicle if the controls do not function norm ally.
Traini ng Course
Never operate this v ehicle w ithout proper i ns truction. Take a training course. All
operators sho uld receive training from a certified instructor.
