Lens will not retract.
Memory card slot/battery
cover was opened with
camera on.

Close the memory card slot/battery cover, then turn off the
camera.
Switched to Playback
mode from Shooting mode.

The lens does not retract in this case. To make the lens retract,
close the lens cover.
Batteries consumed quickly.
