RTU Open Controller System
The RTU Open controller is factory--mounted in the
50TC unit’s main control box, to the l eft of the CTB. See
Fig. 59 or 60. Factory wiring is completed through
harnesses connected t o the CTB. Field--connect ions for
RTU Open controller sensors wil l be made at the Phoenix
connec tors on the RTU Open board. The factory--installed
RTU Open controller includes the supply--air tempera ture
(SAT) sensor. The outdoor air temperature (OAT) sensor is
included in the FIOP/accessory EconoMi$er
R
2 package.
The RT U Open controller is an int egrated component of
the Carrier rooftop unit. Its internal application
programming provides optimum performance and energy
efficienc y. The RTU Open control ler enables the unit to
run in 100% stand--al one control mode, Carrier’s i--Vu
R
Open network, or a Third Party Building Automation
System (BAS). On--board DIP switches a llow you to
select your protocol (and baud rate) of choice among the
four most popular protocols in use today: BACnet*,
Modbus
{
, Johnson N2 and LonWorks**. (See Fig. 58.)
Refer to Ta ble 8, RTU Open Controller Inputs and Outputs
for locations of all connections to the RTU Open board.
NOTE: The RTU Open controller acts as an intelligent
imbedded thermostat. A room thermostat cannot be used
with the RTU Open controller.
