Overview

This document serves as an operation guide for the CASIO Watch, model 5641, providing comprehensive instructions on its functions, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The CASIO Watch 5641 is a multi-functional timepiece designed to integrate with a mobile phone, offering advanced features beyond traditional timekeeping. Its core capabilities include:

  • Timekeeping Mode: Displays the current day of the week, hour, minute, second, month, and day. It also features a Life Log display for distance, calories, and step count.
  • Time Adjustment: The watch can automatically adjust its time settings by connecting to a paired mobile phone. Manual time adjustment is also possible through watch operations, allowing users to set seconds, hour, minute, 12/24-hour format, year, month, day, operation tone, Airplane Mode, and illumination duration.
  • Life Log Measurement: Tracks daily step count, distance covered, and calories burned using a 3-axis accelerometer. It provides progress graphs towards daily targets and allows users to specify daily targets for distance, calories, and steps.
  • Stopwatch Mode: Measures elapsed time in 1/100-second units for the first hour and 1-second units thereafter, up to 24 hours. It supports split times, lap times, and can display measured distance and pace.
  • Timer Mode: Features a countdown timer that can be set in 1-second units up to 60 minutes. It includes an auto-start function and an interval timer for creating sequences of multiple countdowns, useful for fitness workouts.
  • Dual Time Mode: Allows users to keep track of time in another time zone in addition to their current location time, with the ability to swap current location and dual time displays.
  • Alarms and Hourly Time Signal: Supports up to five independent alarms and an hourly time signal that beeps every hour on the hour.
  • Mobile Link Functionality: Connects wirelessly via Bluetooth® to a compatible mobile phone, enabling auto time adjustment, selection of World Time cities, data transfer for Life Log and Training Log, configuration of watch settings, phone finder, and receipt of phone notifications (incoming calls, mail, social networking sites).
  • Hand Alignment Adjustment: Corrects the alignment of analog hands if they become misaligned due to magnetism or impact.
  • Other Settings: Includes options to enable/disable the button operation tone and check exercise intensity levels based on step count and user profile.

Usage Features

  • Navigation: Modes are cycled by pressing button (D). Holding (D) for at least two seconds returns to the Timekeeping Mode from any other mode.
  • Creating Your Profile: Before using Life Log, users can configure profile settings such as height, weight, gender, date of birth, and preferred units (cm/feet and inches for height, kg/pounds for weight) to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Illumination (Auto Light): The watch face can be manually illuminated by pressing (B). Auto Light can be enabled by holding (B) for two seconds in Timekeeping Mode, causing illumination to turn on automatically when the watch is angled 40 degrees or more. Illumination duration can be set to 1.5 or 3 seconds.
  • Hand Shift Feature: To facilitate viewing of digital display information, the analog hands can be shifted out of the way by holding (B) and pressing (D). They return to normal positions automatically after one hour of inactivity or when changing modes.
  • Mobile Link Setup: To utilize mobile link features, the CASIO "G-SHOCK MOVE" app must be installed on the phone, and Bluetooth enabled. The watch and phone need to be paired, typically by tapping the app icon, following on-screen instructions, and holding (E) on the watch for at least two seconds.
  • Life Log Viewing and Target Setting: Life Log data (distance, calories, step count) can be viewed via the G-SHOCK MOVE app. Daily targets for these metrics can also be specified through the app.
  • Notification Linking: The G-SHOCK MOVE app allows configuration of settings for phone notifications (lap distance reached, timer program completed, alarm time reached) to sound on the phone.
  • Training Log Data: Lap data measured by the Stopwatch Mode, including lap/split time, average pace, distance per lap/split, and total calories burned, can be viewed through the G-SHOCK MOVE app.
  • Programmable Timers: The G-SHOCK MOVE app enables configuration of programmable timer settings and creation of multiple timer groups for interval training.
  • World Time City Settings: World Time City settings, including auto summer time switching, can be configured via the G-SHOCK MOVE app. User cities not built into the watch can also be selected.
  • Phone Finder: Holding (E) for at least five seconds in Timekeeping Mode triggers a tone on the paired phone, even if it's in vibrate mode, to help locate it.
  • Airplane Mode: To disable radio signal emissions in medical facilities or aircraft, Airplane Mode can be enabled through watch operations.
  • Stopwatch Operation: Start, stop, and reset operations are performed using buttons (A) and (E). Split and lap times are recorded with (A).
  • Timer Operation: Start, pause, resume, and reset operations are performed using buttons (E) and (A).
  • Alarm Configuration: Alarm settings (hour, minute, on/off) are configured through watch operations, cycling through alarm numbers with (C) and adjusting values with (E) and (B).
  • Dual Time Configuration: Dual Time settings (hour, minute) are configured through watch operations, adjusting values with (E) and (B).

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Replacement: When battery power is low, the "I" indicator flashes, and some functions may be disabled. If flashing persists, battery replacement is required. This should be requested from a CASIO service center or original retailer.
  • Resetting Watch Settings: Watch settings and Life Log data can be returned to factory defaults. This operation also deletes pairing information with a phone.
  • Unpairing: To unpair the watch from a phone, both G-SHOCK MOVE app operations (deleting pairing information) and watch operations (deleting pairing information from the watch) are required. iPhone users must also delete pairing information from their phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting section for common issues such as pairing failures, connectivity problems, incorrect time display, Life Log measurement inaccuracies, and alarm malfunctions.
  • Wearing the Watch: For accurate Life Log measurements, the watch should be worn with the face on the outside of the wrist and the band tightened securely. A loose band can lead to incorrect measurements.
  • Avoiding Incorrect Step Count: The manual lists various conditions that can lead to inaccurate step counts, such as specific gaits, surfaces, irregular walking patterns, hand/arm movements, and wearing the watch on the dominant hand. Users should be aware of these factors to ensure data accuracy.
  • Power Saving: Step counting automatically stops if the watch detects no movement for two to three minutes to conserve power. Bluetooth connection may also terminate after approximately one hour of inactivity.
  • Data Transfer: Measured log data from the stopwatch is automatically sent to G-SHOCK MOVE when a measurement operation ends and is reset, provided the watch is connected to the phone.
