This document is an operation guide for the Casio Watch Module 5699, providing comprehensive instructions and specifications for its various functions and maintenance.
Function Description
The Casio Watch Module 5699 offers a range of features designed for daily use and specific activities.
Timekeeping:
The watch displays both analog and digital time. Digital time can be set to either 12-hour or 24-hour format and includes hour, minute, second, month, day, and day of the week. It features a Full Auto Calendar from 2000 to 2099 and supports Summer Time (Daylight Saving Time). Analog time displays hour and minute, with the minute hand moving every 20 seconds.
Telememo:
This feature allows storage of up to 30 records. Each record can include a name (up to 8 characters) and a phone number (up to 16 digits). Records are automatically sorted alphabetically by name, and a name auto-sort function is included.
World Time:
The watch can display the current time for 30 cities (29 time zones) around the globe, with support for Summer Time. Adjusting the time for a displayed World Time City automatically adjusts all other World Time cities accordingly.
Alarm:
The module includes three alarms: two standard daily alarms and one daily alarm with a snooze function. Alarm settings include hours and minutes, and the alarm tone duration is 10 seconds.
Hourly Time Signal:
A beep sounds every hour on the hour when this feature is enabled.
Timer:
The timer counts down from a user-specified start time. The measuring unit is 1 second, with a measuring range of 24 hours. The time setting unit is 1 minute, and the setting range is from 1 minute to 24 hours. A 10-second beeper sounds when the countdown reaches zero.
Stopwatch:
The stopwatch measures elapsed time in units of 1/100 second. Its maximum capacity is 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds (24 hours). Measurement functions include elapsed time, cumulative time, split times, and timing for first and second place finishers.
Important Technical Specifications
- Accuracy: ±30 seconds a month at normal temperature.
- Power Supply: CR2025 x 1 battery.
- Battery Life: Approximately 10 years under conditions of one alarm (10 seconds)/day.
- Water Resistance: Available in various levels: No BAR mark (not water resistant), 5BAR, 10BAR, and 20BAR, each with specific usage guidelines.
- Display: Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) for digital information and analog hands for time.
- Operating Temperature: Designed for normal daily use; extreme temperatures (below 0°C/32°F or above +40°C/104°F) can affect performance.
Usage Features
Navigation:
The watch features multiple buttons (A, B, C, D) for navigation and setting adjustments. Button (C) cycles between watch modes. Holding down (C) for at least one second returns to the Timekeeping Mode. Button (A) cycles through digital display contents in Timekeeping Mode and is used to complete setting operations. Buttons (B) and (D) are generally used to change settings, with holding them down enabling high-speed scrolling.
Time Adjustment:
Digital time settings (seconds, summer time, hours, minutes, year, month, day) can be configured. The 12-hour/24-hour timekeeping format can be toggled. Analog time can be adjusted by advancing the hands, with options for high-speed advancement.
Telememo Input/View/Correct/Delete:
Characters for names and phone numbers can be input using buttons (B) and (D) to select characters and (C) to move the flashing cursor. Records are viewed by scrolling with (D) and toggling between name and phone number with (A). Correction involves selecting the character to change and using (B) and (D). Deletion is performed by pressing (B) and (D) simultaneously when the first character of the name is flashing, followed by (A).
World Time Configuration:
World Time cities can be selected using (D). Summer time settings for specific cities can be enabled or disabled. Hour and minute settings for World Time cities can be adjusted using (B) and (D).
Alarm Configuration:
Alarm settings (AL1, AL2, SNZ) and the hourly time signal (SIG) can be configured by selecting the desired alarm/signal with (D) and adjusting hours and minutes with (B) and (D). Alarms can be tested by holding down (D) in Alarm Mode. Alarms and the hourly time signal can be turned on or off using (A).
Timer Operation:
The countdown start time can be set in 1-minute units up to 24 hours. The timer can be started, paused, and resumed using button operations. A beeper sounds for 10 seconds when the countdown ends.
Stopwatch Operation:
The stopwatch can measure elapsed time, split times, and timing for first and second place finishers. Operations include start, stop, resume, and reset.
Maintenance Features
Water Resistance Precautions:
Detailed guidelines are provided for different levels of water resistance (No BAR, 5BAR, 10BAR, 20BAR), specifying appropriate activities (hand washing, swimming, windsurfing, skin diving) and precautions (avoiding button operation underwater, hot water, soaps/detergents). Regular gasket replacement (every two to three years) is recommended to maintain water resistance. Fogging of the glass, if persistent, indicates a malfunction requiring professional service.
Band Care:
Tightening the band too tightly can cause skin irritation. Bands should be kept clean to prevent deterioration, rust, or breakage. Any abnormalities in the band (loss of flexibility, cracks, discoloration, looseness) require immediate inspection and repair.
General Care:
The watch should be kept clean by wiping with a soft cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and moisture. After exposure to seawater or mud, it should be rinsed with clean fresh water. Metal bands and parts should be scrubbed with a weak solution of water and mild detergent, then rinsed and dried. Resin bands should be washed with water and dried. Leather bands should be wiped with a soft cloth to remove water and sweat. Regular operation of the crown, buttons, and rotary bezel is recommended to maintain proper function.
Storage:
For long-term storage, the watch should be thoroughly cleaned and stored in a cool, dry place.
Resin Components:
Avoid prolonged contact with other items while wet to prevent color transfer. Protect from direct sunlight and dirt to prevent discoloration. Strong friction can also cause discoloration of painted components.
Metal Components:
Clean regularly to prevent rust, especially if exposed to sweat or water. Use a soft toothbrush with a weak solution of water and mild detergent, then rinse and dry.
Battery Replacement:
Battery replacement should be performed by an original retailer or authorized CASIO service center using the specified battery type (CR2025). A check for proper water resistance should be performed during battery replacement. The initial battery is for factory testing and may have a shorter life; replacement will be charged even within the warranty period. Low battery power is indicated by large timekeeping error, dim display, or a blank display, and requires prompt replacement to prevent malfunction.
Data Memory:
Be aware that battery changes or repairs may result in data loss from the watch's memory. It is recommended to keep separate written copies of important data.
