Brake uid level inspection
Before riding, check that the brake uid level is above the low mark
and replenish whenever necessary. Insu󰀩cient brake uid may let
air enter the brake system, possibly causing the brakes to become
ine󰀨ective. The brake uid master cylinder reservoir levels (A) can
be viewed from the left side inner fender well.
Observe these precautions:
When checking the uid level, make sure the vehicle is on a level surface.
Use only the designated quality brake uid. Otherwise, the rubber seals may deteriorate, causing leaks and
poor brake performance.
Recommended brake uid: DOT 4
Rell with the same type of brake uid. Mixing uids may result in a harmful chemical reaction and may lead
to poor brake performance.
Be careful the water does not enter the master cylinder reservoir. Water will signicantly lower the boiling
point of the uid and lead to poor brake performance.
Brake uid may deteriorate painted surfaces or plastic parts. Always clean up spilled uid immediately
As the brake pads wear, it is normal for the brake uid level to gradually go down. A low brake uid level may
indicate worn brake pads or brake system leakage; therefore, be sure to check the brake pads for wear and
the brake system for leakage
Have your dealer check the cause if the brake uid level goes down unexpectedly.
