What to do if no sparks appear when pressing the ignition button on my Char-Broil Gas grill?
    • D
      David HolmesAug 15, 2025
If no sparks appear at any electrodes when the Electronic Ignition Button is pressed and no noise can be heard from the spark module on your Char-Broil Gas grill, first check the battery orientation. If that's not the issue, replace the battery with a new alkaline battery. It's also possible that the button assembly isn't installed properly; unscrew the button cap assembly and reinstall it, making sure the threads are aligned and engaged fully. Finally, the spark module might be faulty, so replace the spark module assembly.

Why are the sparks weak on my Char-Broil Gas grill?
    • S
      sloveAug 18, 2025
If sparks are present but not at all electrodes or not at full strength on your Char-Broil Gas grill, remove and reconnect all output connections at the module and electrodes. Additionally, check for arcing to the grill away from the burners by observing the grill in a dark location while operating the ignition system. Look for arcing between output wires and the grill frame. A weak battery can also cause this issue, so replace the battery with a new alkaline battery. If the electrodes are wet, use a paper towel to remove the moisture. Finally, cracked or broken electrodes can cause this, so replace them if necessary.

Why does my Char-Broil Gas grill flare up?
    • D
      Destiny MoralesAug 28, 2025
Flare-ups on your Char-Broil Gas grill are often due to grease buildup. Clean the burners and the inside of the grill/firebox. Also, excessive fat in the meat can cause flare-ups, so trim the fat before grilling. Finally, reduce the cooking temperature if it's too high.

Why is there a sudden drop in gas flow in my Char-Broil Gas grill?
    • M
      moorelauraAug 31, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or low flame in your Char-Broil Gas grill can happen if you're out of gas, so check the LP cylinder. Another cause might be that the excess flow valve has tripped. To resolve this, turn off the knobs, wait 30 seconds, and light the grill. If the flames are still low, turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the regulator, reconnect it, and perform a leak test. Then, turn on the LP cylinder valve, wait 30 seconds, and light the grill. A vapor lock at the coupling nut/LP cylinder connection can also cause this issue. Turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the coupling nut from the cylinder, reconnect it, and try again.

What to do if flames blow out on my Char-Broil Gas grill?
    • L
      Linda MartinSep 4, 2025
If the flames on your Char-Broil Gas grill are blowing out, it could be due to high or gusting winds. Turn the front of the grill to face the wind or increase the flame height by turning the gas valve to a higher position. It could also be that you're low on LP gas, so refill the LP cylinder. Another possible cause is that the excess flow valve tripped; refer to the troubleshooting steps for a sudden drop in gas flow.

    • B
      Bruce MitchellSep 7, 2025
If you have a persistent grease fire in your Char-Broil Gas grill, grease might be trapped by food buildup around the burner system. Turn the knobs to OFF and turn the gas off at the LP cylinder. Leave the lid in position and let the fire burn out. After the grill cools, remove and clean all parts.

      Frank ZamoraSep 12, 2025
If you experience flashback (fire in burner tubes) in your Char-Broil Gas grill, the burner and/or burner tubes may be blocked. Turn the knobs to OFF and clean the burner and/or burner tubes. Refer to the burner cleaning section of the Use and Care guide for detailed instructions.
