3. Turn front a dju s ting sc re w until a light dragging contact
is felt on th e brak e drum and th en ba ck off 3 notches.

Install adjusting hole covers.
5. Repea t above ope r ations on the other rear wh ee l and
l ower rea r of truck to fl oor .
Parking Brake Adjustment (All except I lh and 2 ton) . The
pa rk ing brake ad j ustment s houl d be checked after each se rvice
brake adju stment.
1. Jack up r ea r whee ls and set th e p ar king brake le ver or
pedal in the ' fully rel eased position.
2. Loo se n the check nuts at the ca ble ends, or remove the
ad ju sti ng clevis to pull rod clevis pins and loosen l ock nut, de·
pending on truck mode l.
3. On lh ton , with loot ped al in fully released position, ad ju st
brake pedal pull rod clevis to gi ve %" cle aran ce between cross
shaft and frame cross membe r at ce nt er.
4. On lh: ton, depress foot pedal I 1h:".
5. Pull the cables o ut of the conduits by ha nd until a posi·
tive stop is felt. Ho ld th~ cab le in this position and turn the
c heck nuts to remove all slack from cab le or turn the clevis
until it is the correct length for th e pin to pass through clevis
and cable end.

Apply the park ing brake enough to produce a dr ag at
the w heels and .. check f or equal dr ag at each wheel. If one
wh ee l has ' more dr ag than th e other, loosen th e parking
b rake adjustment of the tight wh ee l until they are equa l. Re-
lease brake l ever and chec k to see that the bra kes do not drag.

Tighten th e adjusting nu ts to ma intain correct adjust .
ment or install clevis pin cotter pins an d tighten l ock nu ts on
models using this type connection.
Parking Brake Adjustment (1% and 2 ton).
1. Set h and brake lever in the fully released notch of the
ratchet sector.
2. Loosen l ock nut "0" and draw up adjusting bo lt "At! (fi g.
53) to secure clearance between outer shoe facing and brake
