Differences Between Sx500, SG500X and the ESW2-550X Devices

• TCAM size, see Viewing TCAM Utilization[
• System mode. The Sx500 devices can be set to run in either Layer 2 or
Layer 3 system modes. The SG500X/ESW2-550X devices always run in
both Layer 2 and Advanced Layer 3 system mode.
• Stack ports are different on these devices. See Stack Ports.
• Port speed availability per cable types are different on these devices. See
Cables Types.
• Enabling IPv4 routing is done differently in the two types of devices, as
follows:
- SG500X/ESW2-550X—IPv4 routing must be enabled in the IPv4
Interface page.
- Sx500—When the device is switched from Layer 2 to Layer 3 system
mode, IPv4 routing is automatically enabled.
