Why is there static on my Clarity XL50 Telephone line?

  If you're experiencing static on the line with your Clarity Telephone, it might be due to its proximity to certain household appliances such as a touch lamp, microwave, or refrigerator. Try relocating your phone to another area. Also, cordless phones or extra devices like CID units and answering machines can cause static, so try disconnecting them. If you have DSL service, install the phone line filter provided by your service provider.

What to do if I am unable to hear Clarity XL50 ringer?

  If your Clarity Telephone isn't ringing, too many phones or phone devices on the line might be the cause. Try disconnecting one or two devices to see if that solves the problem. Also, ensure that power is being supplied to the phone, as the extra loud ringer will not work without power.

Why am I unable to dial out on my Clarity Telephone?

  If you're unable to dial out with your Clarity Telephone, the phone might be at the end of a long line of phones, or it may not be getting enough power from the phone line. Ensure the TONE/PULSE switch is set correctly. It may also be necessary to wait a few seconds after lifting the handset before dialing. Note that the XL50 is not compatible with Digital PBX Systems.

  If the person on the other end cannot hear you when using your Clarity Telephone, it could be due to several reasons. There is an advanced computer running inside the XL50 and after the handset is picked up, it will take a little less than a second to engage the phone. Too many phones or phone devices on the line may affect your phone’s transmission, so disconnect one or two devices to see if that eliminates the problem. Also, make sure you are speaking directly into the mouthpiece in your normal tone of voice.

  If no power is being supplied to your Clarity Telephone, the amplification, extra loud ringer, and lighted keypad will not function properly. Also, the phone will drain the backup batteries very quickly, causing the need for frequent battery changes and the Low Battery indicator light to constantly illuminate if the AC Adapter is not properly connected or if the power goes out.
