Talk Key ( 1 )

Pressing the talk key places the audio from the headset mic onto the intercom channel. The talk LED will illuminate
when the talk function is active. This function can be latched with a single or double press depending on
programming. It can also be set up for non-latching, momentary action only.

Call Key ( 2 )

Pressing the call key sends a call signal to all other stations on that channel. The call LED will also illuminate to
indicate both outgoing and incoming call signals.
Power Status ( 3 )
The power status LED indicates that the beltpack is receiving DC voltage. (The light will illuminate even if the
beltpack is receiving less than the minimum 12 VDC required for beltpack operation.)
Volume Control ( 4 )

The volume control affects the listen volume of the connected channel in the headset speaker(s). There is a limiter
built into the headset driver circuit.
Sidetone adjust

Sidetone controls the level of one’s own voice in their headset. It should typically be set in the midpoint of its
rotational range. If an extreme setting to either limit of the adjustment is required for typical sidetone level, it could
indicate a problem with the system such as lack of, or multiple terminations. A problematic headset could also be the
cause. Access to the adjustment trim pots is through the small hole next to beltclip on the back side of the unit.
Adjustment requires “greenie” or similar small screwdriver.
NOTE: Do not force the trim pots past their stop points as this will damage them.
Intercom/Loop Through Connector ( 8 and 9 )

The female 3-pin XLR intercom connector is where the beltpack connects to the intercom line. The loop through
connector is the male 3-pin XLR jack, though either jack can be used for either function.
Headset ( 10 )

The headset connector is a 4 pin male XLR connector. This connector is always active and has priority if an AUX
headset is also connected , though only one or the other should be connected at any one time.. The RS-601 is
capable of powering an electret mic. If electret mic is selected, the mic gain level will automatically adjust. See
specifications for impedance requirements.
AUX Headset ( 11 )

The AUX headset connector is designed to be used with the Clear-Com CC-25 Ultra-Light headset. The gain of the
mic preamp is matched specifically to the CC-25’s mic. While the circuit will accommodate certain types of mobile
phone style headsets that fit its 2.5mm jack, use of these headsets will degrade system performance with less audio
bandwidth and less noise rejection at the mic. They can be used more reliably for listen only applications.
