• Be very careful when handling lead-acid batteries to avoid sparking at theterminals. Thebattery can
produce explosive gases during charge or when jump-starting. Therefore, it is important that these activities
be carried out in awell-ventilated area.
• The starter may only be connected to vehicles with a12V lead-acid battery. Donot use thebattery for dry batteries
or other non-rechargeable batteries. Theycan explode and cause serious personal injury or property damage.
• Be careful to keep thered and black battery clamps apart so that they do not come into contact with each other,
nor should they touch any metal object at thesame time. Thismay damage theproduct and/or may cause
sparks or anexplosion. Alwaysstore thebattery leads wound up and thebattery clamps placed in their holders.
• Check your vehicle’s polarity before connecting the jump starter leads. Make sure the battery’s polarity
markings are legible. Always connect the red, positive (+) clamp first and thereafter the black, negative (-) clamp.
• The jump starter’s power switch should be in theOFF position during charging, when not in use, and when
connecting theclamps to thebattery.
• Make sure thestarter is placed on aneven surface during charging to prevent it tipping over or falling.
Planout your work before proceeding so that no clothing, hair, cables, etc. can get caught in any of
theengines moving parts when it is started.
• This jump starter must not be used instead of avehicle battery. Donot attempt to operate avehicle that
does not have abattery installed.
• Do not have thecharger connected to thejump starter at thesame time as thebattery clamps are
connected to thebattery of thevehicle.
• If thebattery clamps are connected to thewrong terminals, thered warning light “Rev. Polarity” will
come on immediately.
1.6 Specific safety instructions for using the jump starter’s air compressor
• Do not use thecompressor whilst charging abattery.
• Never point thenozzle towards people or animals.
• Never leave thecompressor unattended, it can overheat if use for along time and cause thethermal cut-out to
trip. Ifthethermal cut-out has tripped thecompressor must cool down for 30 minutes before it can beused.
• Use only theadapters and accessories that are provided with theproduct.
• The jump starter is not atoy. Donot let children play with it. Thejump starter must only be used by adults
who have read theinstruction manual.
• The pressure gauge on thecompressor is intended as aguide only. Foraccurate pressures, aseparate,
more precise pressure meter or tyre gauge should beused.
• Do not over-inflate. Inflate only to themanufacturer’s recommendations. Exceeding thepressure rating could
cause anitem to explode and damage your hearing or frighten pets.
• The air from thecompressor is not safe for breathing.
• Make sure that thejump starter is placed on alevel surface. Vibrations from thecompressor can cause
thestarter to “walk” or tipover.
• High pressure air is dangerous, never direct air from thenozzle towards bare skin, eyes, people or animals.
1.7 Specific safety instructions for charging batteries
• Never attempt to dismantle abattery.
• Do not expose batteries towater.
• Do not store batteries in temperatures above 40 ˚C or below 0 °C, discharged batteries are damaged by
temperatures belowzero.
• Charge only at ambient temperatures between 10 °C and 40 °C.
• Use only thesupplied charger to charge thebattery in thejump starter.
• Warning! Lead-acid batteries contain battery acid which is corrosive. Ifthebattery acid comes into contact
with skin or eyes, rinse theaffected area immediately with water and seek medical attention.
1.8 Charger
• The charger provided with thejump starter is designed for use with aspecific voltage.
Makesure that themains voltage supply corresponds to thevoltage on therating plate.
• Never try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Never attempt to replace thecharger plug with aregular mainsplug.
Useonly thesupplied charger to charge thebattery in thejump starter.
• If theplugs or lead of thecharger are damaged, they must be replaced by atradesman using original spareparts.
• Battery charging must only take place in awell-ventilated area.
