Safety instructions
Make sure that any person installing, taking into operation
and operating the breather:
is technically qualied and competent
fully comply with these assembling instructions
Improper operations or misuse could cause danger to:
•life and limb
the equipment and other assets of the operator
the equipment proper function
Opening of the device will void your warranty.
Safety instructions in this manual are shown in three different
forms to emphasize important information.
Safety notes on the equipment operation
Electrical installation is subject to the relevant national
safety rules.
This information indicates particular danger to life and health.
Disregarding such a warning can lead to serious or fatal injury.
Please carefully read the guidance contained in this manual
before the use of the item.
All relevant fire protection regulation must be strictly observed.
This information indicates particular danger to equipment or
other property of the user. Serious or fatal injury cannot be
excluded.
Installation, electrical connection and fitting the device may only
be carried out by qualified personnel and only in accordance to
this instruction manual.
It is responsibility of the user to make sure that the device is
used for specified application only.
For safety matters, please avoid any unauthorized and
improperly works.
The operating and installation requirements described in this
manual must be strictly followed. If not, the device can be
damaged or a malfunction may occur.
The unit must be mounted level and upright.
The unit and piping must be installed so the oil is not able to
enter the breather.
Do not install in an enclosed cabinet; proper ventilation is
required.
This notes give important or specific information concerning the
equipment or as to work with the equipment.

NOTE
Dehydrating breathers are transparent envelopes that
contain salts of chemically pure silicon oxide (called silica
gel) with coloured indicator. The air sucked inside the tran-
sformer get through these envelopes, due to the thermal
contraction of the oil mass.
Silica gel absorbs the moisture and prevents oil contami-
nation.
The colour variations are shown on the breather label. At
this point, the salt contained in the dehumidier must be
replaced with new salt or can be regenerated. A special
feature of silica gel is its capacity to absorb atmospheric
humidity.
To choose the correct type of the breather, refer to table
2 and 4.
The top of the units is made with two assembling systems:
with PN 6 UNI 2276-67 ange, indicated by the letter A
(version not available for sizes 1, type E11);
with female thread, indicated by the letter B (version not
available for 7 and 8 sizes).
Table 2 shows the absorption characteristics of the
silicagel which, together with the capacities given in graph
1 and table 3 , make it possible to select the most suitable
dehumidier. When they are assembled, it is recommend-
ed to remove the plugs and the hydraulic seal must be ac-
tivated pouring mineral oil in up to the mark on the jar (the
oil level, once the sump is mounted on the bottom, must
correspond with the mark in the sump). Install connection
pipelines from the conservator to the air breather with
nominal air passage diameters that are the same as the
size of the ange or threaded connection to avoid choking
off the ow of inlet or outlet air.
Mounting
The breather is mounted by screwing into a breather pipe
from the conservator system or other part of the electrical
equipment.
