Replicated Setup
The Replicated Setup feature gives an administrator the ability
to easily copy one Deskpro 4000N setup configuration to other
computers of the same model. This allows for faster, more
consistent configuration of multiple Deskpro 4000N computers.
Using Replicated Setup
To use Replicated Setup in Computer Setup, complete the
following steps:
1. Turn off the Deskpro 4000N.
2. Connect a second computer to the Deskpro 4000N using
only a null modem cable connected to the serial ports on
the rear panels of both computers.
✎
In order to use the second computer’s diskette drive as an
external diskette drive on the Deskpro 4000N, optional
FDS software must be installed on the second computer.
3. Turn on the second computer. With Windows running on
the second computer, run the FDS software.
4. Insert the Computer Setup diskette in the diskette drive on
the second computer.
5. Turn on the Deskpro 4000N.
6. Use Computer Setup to select the settings for the
Replicated Setup. Refer to Chapter 5, “Using Compaq
Utilities,” for more information.
7. Select File, Save System Configuration from the menu bar,
and follow the instructions on the screen.
8. To restore the Replicated Setup, select File, Restore
System Configuration from the menu bar, and follow the
instructions on the screen.
