      If you're not getting any sound, ensure the Play/Pause icon on the LCD is solid, as a flashing icon indicates Pause mode – press the Play/Pause button. Also, increase the volume level by pressing the + button. Check that the MMC cards have songs on them and look for a song title on the LCD display.

      If the USB icon isn't showing on the LCD when connected, ensure your Compaq Media Player is turned on and the USB cable is properly connected to both the PC and the player. Verify that your PC is operating normally by restarting it and then reattaching the cable. Also, make sure the player is plugged directly into the PC and not into a USB hub, as it may not operate correctly with some USB hubs.

      If 'NO MEMORY' appears on the LCD, check the following: * Ensure MMC cards are inserted in the unit. * Make sure the MMC cards are oriented properly and fully inserted into the connector. When looking at the back of the Player, the label of the MMC card should be facing up and the notch on the MMC card should be on the right (matching the icon on the MMC access door). * Make sure the MMC card is formatted using the RioPort Audio Manager.

      If your Compaq Media Player is slow to respond with a new MMC card, allow up to 30 seconds or more for the RioPort Audio Manager to recognize the card. Also, make sure the MMC card is formatted.

      If 'NO SONGS' is displayed on the LCD, the player can't read any songs on the MMC cards. Ensure the MMC cards are formatted and that songs are listed on the right side of the COPY TO DEVICES screen.

      If the RioPort Audio Manager isn't recognizing your Compaq Media Player, ensure the USB icon is displayed on the LCD. Also, check that the Compaq PA-1 is the selected device on the Player tab in the RioPort Options. Verify that the MMC cards are inserted and recognized by the player.

      To improve song audio quality on songs copied from a CD, start the RioPort Audio Manager and press the F10 key. Select the READ CD tab. MP3 format encoding at 128kBit/s or WMA format encoding at 80kBit/s should give excellent sound quality. Note that 160kBit/s WMA content is not recommended for downloading to the Player.

      If you're only able to transfer a few songs to the Compaq Media Player, ensure the MMC cards don't have other data on them by reformatting them before transferring songs. Also, make sure your player has fresh batteries. Try restarting your PC and reattaching the USB cable to both the PC and your player.
