9.2 Air filter
Never use thegrass trimmer without anair filter. Clean or replace thefilter if it is damaged or dirty.
Clean theair filter like this:
1. Undo thescrew in theair filter cover that holds on theouter housing.
2. Remove theouter housing and take out thefilter from theinner cover.
3. Wash thefilter with soap and water. Do not use petrol!
4. Squeeze thefilter and let it dry naturally.
5. Replace thefilter and remount thehousing with theopening facing downwards.
6. Make sure that thehousing is secure so that it won’t shake loose.
9.3 Fuel cap/fuel filter
Remove any sources of ignition, sparks, open flames, lit cigarettes, etc. from thearea where thefuel is mixed,
used or stored. Do not smoke while refuelling or using thegrass trimmer.
1. Open thefuel tank carefully and release any pressure which might have built up in thetank.
Wipe off any spillage and pour any remaining fuel into apetrol can.
2. Pull out thefuel line/fuel filter using something like abent wire.
3. Pull out thefuel filter (twisting it abit helps).
4. Insert anew fuel filter. N.B. Never run theengine without afuel filter.
9.4 Adjusting the carburettor
The carburettor has been factory adjusted for optimum power.
9.5 Spark plug
• Type of spark plug: NGK BM6A or Bosch WS8E
• Electrode gap: 0.65 mm
• Tightening torque: 12–15 Nm
9.6 Sharpening the line cutter knife (on the trimmer guard)
1. Remove thecutter from thetrimmer guard.
2. Hold thecutter in avice. Sharpen theblade using aflat file, sharpening in one direction only and making
sure to maintain theoriginal grinding angle.
10. Storage
1. Clean theexterior of thegrass trimmer, guard, trimmer head, spindle, theexternal parts of theengine, etc.
2. Transfer any fuel remaining in thefuel tank to apetrol container.
3. Start theengine when thefuel tank has been emptied.
4. Allow theengine to idle until it cuts out to empty thecarburettor of fuel.
5. Allow theengine to cool for 5 minutes.
6. Use aspark plug socket to remove thespark plug.
7. Pour one teaspoon of pure 2-stroke oil into thecylinder via thespark plug hole, pull thestarter handle slowly
afew times to distribute theoil evenly over theinside of theengine, replace thespark plug.
8. Store thegrass trimmer in adry and well ventilated place.
10.1 Using the trimmer after it has been stored
1. Use aspark plug socket to remove thespark plug.
2. Pull thestarter handle quickly and smoothly afew times to remove thesurplus oil from thecylinder.
3. Clean theelectrodes of thespark plug or replace it with anew one.
4. Tighten thespark plug using aspark plug socket.
5. Fill thefuel tank.
