5.9. Apply the shift position indicator label to the shift
lock plate. See Figure 5.9.
6. INSTALL THE NEW DETENT SPRING
6.1. Locate the set screw on the right side of the
transmission that compresses the detent spring
for the High / Neutral / low shifter. Use a 5/32”
allen wrench to remove the set screw.
See Figure 6.1.
6.2. Remove the detent spring using a bent wire or
magnet. Be certain that the detent ball remains
in the bore.
6.3. Insert the new detent spring in place of the origi-
nal one. See Figure 6.3.
6.4. Clean the set screw, and apply a small quantity
of thread locking compound such as Loctite 242
to it. Install the set screw and tighten gently until
it bottoms-out. From this point, back it off 1 1/4
turns.
6.5. Install the right rear wheel and torque the bolts to
70-90 ft.-lbs.
6.6. Lower the tractor to the ground and test opera-
tion in a safe area.
7. CHECK THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT OF THE
THREE-POINT HITCH.
7.1. With Three-point hitch in highest position mea-
sure for ground to center of hole.
