Overview

This document is an installation, use, and maintenance manual for the Daikin Modular T Smart ATB unit, identified by the document number D-EIMAH01806-22_00EN, revised 00 in June 2022.

The Modular T Smart ATB is an appliance designed for treating air to condition civil and industrial environments. It is intended for indoor installation on a perfectly flat, vibration-resistant floor capable of supporting the unit's weight with an appropriate safety margin. The unit is designed for use in non-explosive environments and should not operate in areas with high dust concentration.

Key Features and Specifications:

Unit Characteristics:

  • Standard Configuration: Includes an aluminum counter-current heat exchanger, ePM1 50% (F7) class filter in supply, ePM10 75% (M5) class filter in return, and a 50 mm double-skin panel with mineral wool insulation. Optional accessories can be purchased separately.
  • Environmental Conditions:
    • Outside air temperature: -5 °C to 46 °C (without heating coil), -25 °C to 46 °C (with heating coil).
    • Operating environment temperature: -5 °C to 46 °C.
    • Storage/transport temperature: -40 °C to 60 °C.
  • Noise: Designed to produce sound emissions below 80 dB(A). Specific phonometric surveys are recommended for the installation site.
  • Air Ducts: Not supplied with the unit. Must be connected directly to the unit and supported by special brackets to prevent damage and vibration transmission.

  • Duct collar diameter (D): 250 mm (Size 3), 315 mm (Size 4), 355 mm (Size 5), 400 mm (Size 6), 500 mm (Size 7).

Unit Components (Summary):

  1. By-pass damper (Aluzinc)
  2. Duct
  3. Counter flow/heat exchanger (Aluminum)
  4. Return fan (Steel frame, composite impeller)
  5. V-shaped supports with adjustable feet (Galvanized steel)
  6. Supply fan (Steel frame, composite impeller)
  7. ePM1 50% (F7) supply filter (Galvanized steel frame, fiberglass filter unit)
  8. ePM10 75% (M5) supply filter (Galvanized steel frame, fiberglass filter unit)
  9. Electrical panel
  10. Condensate drain pan

Usage Features:

  • BRC Controller: The unit is supplied with a BRC controller for adjusting ventilation unit settings, including fan speed and ventilation mode.
  • Ventilation Flow Adjustment: Users can select "Low" or "High" ventilation rates via the user interface.
  • Ventilation Modes:
    • Automatic mode: Automatically switches between Energy recovery and Bypass ventilation based on air conditioner and heat recovery unit data (temperatures, setpoints).
    • Energy recovery ventilation mode: Outside air passes through a heat exchanger, exchanging heat with return air.
    • Bypass mode: Outside air bypasses the heat exchanger, entering the room without heat exchange.
  • Filter Indication: The unit displays a "Time to clean filter" message or icon when maintenance is due. This can be reset via the user interface.
  • Error Indications: Error icons and codes are displayed on the screen, with contact information for Daikin dealer support.

Maintenance Features:

  • Scheduled Maintenance: A table outlines routine maintenance activities and their frequencies (e.g., general cleaning, filter checks, fan inspections, electrical connection checks).
  • Cleaning Procedures:
    • General: Use personal protective equipment, mild cleaning products (pH 8-9), soft cloths/brushes. Avoid spraying water directly on electrical components.
    • Exchanger: Remove dust with a soft brush or vacuum. Pressure jets (max 1.5 bar, 40° flat nozzle) are allowed. Periodically clean the condensate drain tray and fill the siphon.
    • Fans: Clean with compressed air or soap and water. Verify proper rotation.
    • Filters: Compact filters (G4) can be vacuumed or blown with compressed air 2-3 times before replacement. Replace filters when signaled by the control system.
  • Extraordinary Maintenance: Involves replacement of parts like filters, exchangers, fans, and by-pass dampers. These operations must be performed by expert personnel after disconnecting power and engaging the EMERGENCY button.
  • Safety Precautions: Emphasizes disconnecting power, waiting 120 seconds, using PPE, and ensuring the work area is clear and well-lit. Prohibits removing safety protections while the unit is operational.
  • Troubleshooting Table: Provides a guide for identifying malfunction types, components, and possible causes/solutions (e.g., noise level, insufficient/excessive air flow, insufficient thermal efficiency, water leak).
  • Freeze Prevention: The unit prevents freezing of the heat exchanger using an electric preheating coil (if present) or a differential pressure switch that stops the unit if freezing occurs. Factory settings for the differential pressure switch vary by unit size.
